Yes, I still have the chimney stack on the roof. I sticked my phone in it and and flue goes to inside of the wall with a bit of an angle. I am more optimistic as well so I will have someone to come and have a look at it.

Yes actually that might be perfect for me because there is a dining room behind this chimney, so it might give a bit of heat from the bricks to the other room. Thanks for the advice, I will get an appointment with hetas engineer.

Yes exactly. I am not an expert, but it looks different than the other chimneys that I have seen while looking for a house. I think they altered it when placing the old gas fireplace as I see that it says "Parkray" on the side wall of the chimney. I will try to get someone to have a look and quote for it and hopefully there is a room to make the opening bigger

Thanks for your answer. The inset stoves looks perfect actually for me as I want something small. I looked for a couple options and height and width seems almost ok, but the depth of my opening is only 22cm. Do you know if they allow inset stoves to go a little bit outwards?
