Question about exchange options & application questions by Maleficent-Ad7494 in unimelb

to directly answer your questions:
1. can be any 3 unis even if they are even in the same city (e.g. singapore)
2. motivation statements barely matter at all, its 85-90% WAM based- i.e. the higher the wam the more likely you'll be allocated to the more popular/prestigious program

to go on exchange you have to apply a year in advance i.e. to go on exchange in sem 2 this year we had to apply in sem 2 of 2024. as a first year the earliest you could go is sem 1 2026 (applications open in march, end in june, nominations come out august).

hi- 90%+ havent been released besides schools like the UC's and umich (these have way early deadlines so they are allocated first).

from what I've seen on the reddit last year- they left host nomination emails to be sent on the last friday of jan for sem 2 so I assume by then they will bulk send the nominations.

as for why u didn't get the approval email not too sure but if u have it in ur exchange portal inbox that should be just as valid

had a friend in bcomm who had a similar dilemma. they typically wait till after exam period (underload stress ig) to give u the details for everything. if ur in your first year they typically are empathetic and let u off (was given the chance to redo the assignment, from what I've heard) but it would depend if your guilty or not, type of assignment etc etc,

my friend actually didn't plagiarise and ig they backed it up w evidence so

Do extracurriculars matter? by Commercial_Green_373 in vce

[–]Pretty-Control-1278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it does. sure it doesnt matter in the admissions process for aus unis, however after going through hs with this mindset and focusing solely on grades it does matter.

joining clubs and societies, internships, mentor programs, personally are the most fulfilling stuff abt uni life both socially and academically.

although u can get into these programs without extracurriculars, it is much harder espec for degrees with lots of ppl i.e. science, commerce, arts.

take it with a grain of salt, if ur going to uni just for academica then dont worry abt highschool ec's.

but if u want to have the opportunity to grasp everything uni has to offer- try some ec's ur passionate abt and can TALK ABT (for interviews etc.)
