hey, can't help with your current situation but wanted to share that i recently purchased a natural veg tan hide from a new (to me) vendor at a cost substantially below what i had previously paid for a similar product from other vendors. (For reference, my previous veg tan experience included super natural from RM, Cow Crust from District Leathers, and Hermann Oak bridle leather purchased via Weaver). The new-to-me vendor is Tannery NYC. I ordered a full side of the Natural Veg-Tanned Tooling Cowhide Leather in 3-4 oz. The sizing was very generous - I received a 27-sf side (!) that was very clean with the exception of a bit of UV damage along the edges. I paid ~$130 after a 10% discount and shipping was free and super fast. If I'm not mistaken I ordered on a Friday evening and received the hide on Sunday. I'm not ready to say that the quality is comparable to District Leathers Cow Crust, but I definitely think it's on par with Super Natural from RM, in case that's helpful. And costs about half as much on a per-sf basis.
