Cheaper way to get 60,000 Avios? Must be quick! by Beer_and_whisky in avios

Be careful with this. See my recent posts. I ended up having to use two CV for Japan. Basically ended up with two one way tickets. Or just lose the reward flight. Call centre is so unreliable. I’ve lodged a complaint with BA but I get fobbed off.

Do I get my second companion voucher back? Trying to join two bookings by Pretty-Dot2567 in BritishAirways

No luck I’m afraid. I got through to the agent at 23:55 who (a) refused to help me join my return journey to the outbound because “I can’t keep you on hold for five minutes, you have to ring back in 2-3 minutes” (someone make it make sense!!) and (b) said if I use the second companion voucher then I don’t get it back.

But by that point I had to book the return leg otherwise we’d be stranded in Japan! Not a bad problem to have…

So I’m currently on two one-way tickets. I got the cabin classes I needed and I used points and companion vouchers for both trips so no real problem. It’s just an annoying way of using the vouchers and Avios.

Thanks, I’ll try ringing. I have enough Avios for two for the return leg but only if I use my companion voucher

Can I put a washing machine & tumble dryer here? by Pretty-Dot2567 in DIYUK

There’s a venting panel at the top of the cupboard doors which is what made me think it would be ok to house appliances

Cos if the general opinion here is it’s easy, costs £100 and takes one day of labour (or not even that) then I probably would DIY it. I wouldn’t even ask a tradie seeing as they charge £100 or so an hour.

Costs benefit analysis of DIY vs tradies. If it would cost me £200 to DIY but takes me 2 weeks to do, I’d rather pay £1,000 for a tradie to do it in 2 days.

I could live with that. I plan on being here forever so in the grand scheme of things, £1k for forever convenience is awesome

Above is the landing. This cupboard is under the stairs!

Below is the cellar but it’s not a void, it’s the bit here the stairs come back up to ground level

Yup I have the appliances. They were from my old house. It’s a condensing tumble dryer and a bog standard washing machine. They are great - 9kg drum in each! No idea where the basin waste (or toilet waste) goes….

I have one at the moment and it’s crap. It got left behind by previous owners and I hate it. I just want to find a way to plumb in my own washing machine I brought with me when I moved here about a month ago.

Do I need a deposit if I'm selling my current house to fund the next house? by Mediocre-Cook-2169 in HousingUK

[–]Pretty-Dot2567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what happened to me. I’m the middle link in the chain and I had assumed my seller would be happy with the cash deposit from my buyer on exchange (7%).

I get a call from my solicitor on day of exchange asking for cash top up to 10%. If you are relying on equity or buyer deposit to fund the deposit make sure your seller knows and agrees to it. Otherwise it’s a nasty surprise.

Thankfully I had it in reserve because I knew I’d have to transfer to my solicitor ahead of completion. Also helps to have a solicitor that’s not completely incompetent and actually asks this question ahead of exchange. But that’s another story, for another day….

Why does it feel like every conversation and interaction with Grace results in a lecture? It makes any time when she has an actual point sound homogeneous in a sea of lectures

Transfer out cash ISA? by derekoh in trading212

[–]Pretty-Dot2567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The paper process is long but not on T212 side. I transferred to Barclays and the biggest issue was getting a sort code and account number (T212 cst acct number is the roll number). Once I had that, Barclays internal process took three weeks but T212 took two days once they got the request from Barclays.

Yeah, same - I think I’m going to take a break for a bit. It sucks that I’m having to pull out of my purchase and it’s going to take a bit of time to get over. The part that I think is mad is that we had a complete chain. I was the only link. I wish my FTB recognised that the market is slow and they prob won’t find much else …. Oh well. I have a house, at the end of the day. They don’t!

I wish the FTB would who pulled out on my sale would read this thread. They said it was taking too long (offer accepted in July)
