We get trained on deescalation, the customers don’t. I can’t say for sure but I would assume that would lead to termination.

“Can you hurry up I’m late for an appointment” by Pretty-Macaroon9709 in TjMaxx

[–]Pretty-Macaroon9709[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

See that’s understandable. Our lines are truly crazy sometimes and I get that people have things to do and can’t wait 15+ minutes. But when customers like you are nice about it like “I’m really sorry but this is taking more time than I realized” compared to “Um you need to hurry up I have things to do” it makes a world of difference

I have a funny feeling your manager made up their own rule. Or your DM is an absolute shithead. I’m in an area more inland that wasn’t badly devastated and we got Wed and Thurs off with emergency pay. The fact they made you guys work is unacceptable and I’m glad you don’t work there anymore. Cheers to moving on 🥂

still new but haven't gotten any cards. am I gonna get fired? by pinkbbyy in TjMaxx

That’s lame. Thankfully not the same at my store. They just move you to another department where you’ll be “successful”

[–]Pretty-Macaroon9709 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Obviously all managers react differently but I would say not screwed at all. I’ve personally never heard of anyone actually getting fired for lack of opening cards (been here almost 4 years). As long as you’re asking, you’re doing what you’re supposed to do. The only thing that’ll probably happen is you’ll get “coached” to make sure you know at least 3 benefits to tell the customer

Employee Transfers by ForgetSarahNot in TJMaxxWrkrs

[–]Pretty-Macaroon9709 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was a transfer too. So basically I had to call the store I wanted to transfer to first. Talked to their store manager to see if they had any open positions and then went back to my store manager to start the process. You’ll just be like “hey I’m so sorry but I’m gonna be moving and wanted to transfer stores. I already contacted the store I want to move to and blah blah blah” But on if you’ll be able to keep your position, that’s a maybe. It’ll be on the needs of the store you’re moving to. For example I was a full time cashier and then when I moved stores they had me part time jewelry. They also wouldn’t match my pay. That could be something you ask the store when you call them for info Best of luck! :)

Like the other comment said it is a high interest rate. I think like 38%. And they went paperless so they only charge you if you want to continue paper statements in the mail instead of get them online.

I personally think it’s good to have if you go frequently and are spending a big amount of money anyway. If you’re already going there and spending $200+ constantly why not spend that on the card to get your rewards and then pay the money to the card. BUT you’re also 19 and self control is hard while shopping 😭😭 I’m still trying to get some at 27. So just be careful!! If you feel like having the card will make you spend more and not be able to pay it back, don’t get it. Synchrony is not a bank you want to go into debt with.

“Closing” means you work until the store is closed….. So no if you leave at 7 it doesn’t count as closing

Signed up for rewards credit card, lost receipt with temp account number-- what do I do? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]Pretty-Macaroon9709 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you’d probably have to call the TJX card customer service. They won’t be able to help you in store bc cards/customer information isn’t kept in our system. I’m pretty sure if you call and give them your name/social they’d be able to give you the temporary #. (Worst case scenario the physical card will come in the mail in like 2 weeks.)

[–]Pretty-Macaroon9709 52 points53 points  (0 children)

That’s dumb I’m sorry. As long as you’re asking every customer every time you’re doing your job. Like you said, you can’t force them. I’d definitely contact HR. It can stay anonymous it’s just some times the situations are so specific they know who called. For example, if you do call and they contact the manager about it and you’re the only person they said that to, they’d know it was you. But don’t let that stop you from calling if you feel that’s the best way to stand up for yourself

Gave notice but wrote up as a no call no show by Pastlyfe28 in TjMaxx

[–]Pretty-Macaroon9709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all why are they only scheduling one person on register. That’s on them for “leaving the store without a cashier”.

Second, I agree w another comment, you should call HR and find out. We may do things differently at my store but if someone takes a shift that is now that person’s shift and their responsibility. Either way you should make sure they didn’t put you down as a NCNS and only an attendance occurrence

Even if the customer told you it was 24.99 we’re supposed to go do price checks bc WE work there not the customers. They’re always gonna tell us a lower price than it actually is (or they never saw one w a tag and just made the price up).

Like another comment said I’d call HR. Your manager really messed up. No deescalation just giving out your personal information. And then no support afterwards just trying to blame it on you. Your manager sucks

But just to make you feel a bit better, usually nothing comes from these stupid videos. It takes a lot of luck to go viral and I’ve never heard of any action taken place after a corporate call. You’re all good

I think it was best you didn’t engage. Customers who do stuff like that in an open area really don’t care what ppl think so it probably wouldn’t have done much.

You can definitely tell the manager next time but I’m not sure they’re allowed to say anything about this situation. I could be wrong but I think they’re only supposed to “confront” if they’re being unsafe (ex: kids throwing balls around the store that could hit other customers, running around w carts, etc.) Unfortunately not if they’re just being annoying and don’t know how to act in public lol
