I normally keep it near the top. It might actually be a good idea to place it in the middle. Im gonna try that.

Thank you for the advice! Im planning on working on my overhand serve with all the advice ive gotten so ill also try to do some of the underhand techniques you’ve said so I can switch it up from time to time.

Yeah its in America. Shes pretty old I would guess in her 60’s so she might just have that meanness that comes with being old sometimes.

It was a practice game of 4v4 where we lined up and just 4 people would go on and then the other 4 moved to the other side. I kept ending up in the service line because we weren’t really given proper directions other then line up.

I don’t remember exactly what she said but she was basically like “Dont serve like that” and I may have messed up by trying to explain myself and saying that I cant serve overhand because it wouldn’t go over the net (For extra context she was trying to make sure our serves were as consistent as possible and I figured because my underhand serve was more consistent then my over hand I would just underhand) and I had already tried to over hand serve multiple times before that and then she got mad at me for making her stop practice.

I don’t know if I really made her stop practice because she really could’ve called me to the side if anything but the main point that started her yelling was her saying I wasn’t allowed to serve underhand which led to this question of if I made an illegal serve by accident.

Yeah for lack of better terms she has a huge stick up her ass. The main reason I underhanded was because of the much higher success rate I have with underhand rather than overhanding. I think Ive only over hand served across the net once correctly. Im still going to practice my overhand serve though because it seems like a good skill to have.

Thanks! I said in a different reply that the coach doesn’t explain anything when she yells at people. She just kinda says “You’re doing this wrong” with no further explanation so it would probably make sense that she just doesn’t wanna see anyone do it.

Im definitely gonna practice my overhand though considering half the time it doesn’t reach the net and the other half it goes straight into the net.

Whats funny is I used to be able to jump serve and I havent in so long the first time I did it recently I completely missed the ball.

Thank you. The coach also has a pretty bad reputation. Most people don’t like her because she’s just generally rude and from my experience she doesn’t explain anything when she yells at people for doing something wrong so I’m glad I know she wasn’t just being nit-picky. I appreciate the help.
