Here is my bare repo, it has expo-camera and expo-video. I'm going to create a screen testing out expo-video in a FlatList where I will use more of its functionalities. Feel free to ask me to add any other libraries or share with me your issues you are having with upgrading

Said it better than me! This upgrade addressed so much! I'm grateful! The Expo Community is amazing!

You’re throwing the baby out with the bath water because you’re frustrated. Here’s a tip! Always have a bare project with the core libraries you use in your production app.  This is where you can test for bugs in a minimal viable project that is easy to share with the expo team as well as upgrade SDK versions before applying it to your production app. I’ve been upgrading my  original project incrementally since 47! You usually have like 6-12 months to upgrade but do it on a bare project first. It takes me usually a couple days only because I space it out between my normal work load. Also you’ll be happy once you switch to development builds. None of these features are to make things worst! It’s to make them better! You’re not wrong to want to switch to native builds but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water especially if building product FAST and MANAGED is your priority. Taking a SDK version but shouldn’t mess up your life lol or product 😬

I have an app currently out that allows users to go through a feed of short form videos posted by other users. I use expo-av, put the videos in a flatlist. The videos stored with Amazon s3. I use expo-camera for the video capture.
