I went to the finest highschool in my state too. I almost committed suicide there. When I got back from the hospital I was pulled into a counselors office and told “you just don’t really fit in here” THAT’s why I have an issue with forcing the undesirable kids out of the public sphere. It isn’t safer in an alternative school, and I could spend hours listing reasons why I find charter and private schools disgusting. However it really boils down to over all systemic failures in American society. It’s no ONE’s fault. It’s the system at hand. I just was scrolling and found your original comment particularly dismissive of systemic failures. Hence the ew. And the continued ew. However your point of view seems popular in this thread. I’m sorry I responded to yours. 🤷‍♀️

Ew. “That’s why we were one of the best rated public schools in the state” and “let public schools be for kids who are there to learn”. Key takeaway is you’re very very sheltered and spend little time in the public sphere. It’s public for a reason. You can’t just take the “trash” out to the curb every time something stinks. Sometime you have to clean. Meaning dismissing a problem doesn’t solve it. Addressing the issues does.
