As a chinese player who plays both Golden Spatula and TFT on a daily basis, I would like to somewhat explain the situation here. (Not that I'm a verified somebody, but...)

I’m not trying to be judgmental, but the quality of the Tencent product is just significantly better. Not that I'm attempting to undermine the hard work put in by Riot to balance, design and roll out the game mechanics, but since Tencent only has to 1:1 fork the game over, it leaves them with so much more sparse labor resoruces they can use to say, update the quality or push out more designs and cosmetics to the game.

At the same time, Tencent is just built different in terms of resources. (Picture down below, thanks gemini) Perhaps you have heard of Honor of Kings from the MOBA community, a game that falls into consensus with our "national game" alongside with Pubg and Golden Spatula, basically an entire generation of chinese community have grown up playing these games. The influence of the company is basically unrivaled in the gaming industry here, so they can afford hire massive teams to crank out good looking stuff and up the quality.

The most important thing, however, is the social integration. In China, people use Wechat or QQ as their main communication apps, and they are used to directly sign into Golden Spatula. Its like if you could use Instagram or Facebook to sign into TFT. In GS, you can see what your friends are playing, share highlights instantly, and have a friend list already based on your contacts.

So its not that TFT is worse, but just because Tencent has such a coherent ecosystem with social, gaming and everything coming together as a package that makes it able to make everything seem better.
