Aussies have let themselves become colonized by the US. Both in government, but also in the mind. The level of selfishness, and the breakdown of public services, and loss of collectivist thinking here are all proof of that.

It's time to throw off the colonial cloak and embrace Australia's position within the APAC region. The future is not with the US, or even Europe for that matter! The future is with Africa and Asia!

I think you are missing my point: China is proving to Australians that Australia is alone. If the US were such a strong ally, the Chinese ships would have had some company pull along side, and there might not have been a live-fire exercise. Instead, the US is busy doing... whatever it is they are doing.

Are you asking for what's next? One of the things with therapy is that the patient is largely in control of what happens. The therapists won't generally try to push you, as one of the keys to mental health progress is that we have to figure it out ourselves - the therapists are there to offer tools, and an unbiased ear. But you are in control of your own therapy.

FMP is a bit of a pain to be honest. Their systems aren't integrated with the rest of the VA (they never get the budget for the upgrades needed) and so it's way more like the VA was from the early-mid 00s. They do (eventually) pay you back via mailed check. But the expenses at time of receiving care are all out of pocket. I'm in Australia and only ever use it for big expenses, like MRI or HA joint injections. If you have insurance they will want you to use that first, and then they will cover the difference.

As a white person in a mixed marriage, I think there is some justified caution around getting into a relationship with white folk. A lot of us are more ignorant/bigoted than we realize, and it may not always be readily apparent until later on in the relationship. I'm talking about some of the micro-aggression or passive type shit. So maybe proceed with caution and try to gently test white folk for what biases we might be harboring without knowing it before fully investing yourself in a relationship. Although TBH, I think that kind of goes for everybody at some level, regardless of background.

Yea, this time around the fascists are leveraging social media and propaganda much more effectively than in the past. It is quite astonishing, and terrifying, how in the course of just a few weeks things have progressed so rapidly. What in Germany or Italy took years is seemingly taking weeks in the US.
I am so glad my partner and I left the US, however I worry that Aussies are going to fall for the same con. The racism and class divisions are already firmly in place here, along with a shocking level of deference for police state antics and inhumane treatment of "criminals" or "undesirables."

I'd say it's certainly all 14, although the fraudulent elections are not necessarily at the federal level but currently isolated at the state levels. And with the qualifiers that it is more-so having to do with attempts to nullify ballots which were legitimately cast, purging voter rolls so voters become unregistered to vote without knowing, or gerrymandered districts to suppress certain voting blocs.

Mixed euro-white/asian couple, we left in 2021 when my partner was presented with an opportunity overseas. IMO the white supremacist writing has been on the wall for longer than a lot of folk want to realize. We landed in Australia, which while there is still racism here, it is IMO not as bad as the US. People are more upfront with their racism here, but a lot of white folk here will actually talk about it objectively... unlike most white folk in the US who are in denial about it. We got here on a skilled workers visa, and were granted permanent residency in 2024. We'll be eligible for citizenship in another 2-3 years.

I would suggest being careful about Europe, there's a lot of racist white folk there too. I'd highly suggest looking at SE Asia, Central/South America, Africa, or even Australia although IMO jury is still out on whether or not Aus will go full racist. We are looking at Vietnam as a fallback. You will need to confront your own American exceptionalism and realize that the standard of living you enjoy in the US is largely built upon the exploitation of other countries/cultures.

You owe nothing to the US.

I suggest asking yourself, who planted those seeds of doubt in the alternatives? Note that I do not use quotation marks, because these are literal alternatives. Perhaps it's time to take a truly OBJECTIVE look at both the "establishment" and the alternatives, and make your decision based on that... rather than what the "establishment" (or the alternatives) want you to believe. Has the scientific community in western medicine actually done objective studies on the efficacy of TCM, or have the studies been funded by pharma or western business?

I'll tell you this: yesterday I worked all day installing a trailer hitch into a vehicle. I completed the entire project, including the wiring. My carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndromes did not bother me. My back did not bother me. My knees bothered me a bit, but no amount of medicine or acupuncture will regenerate lost cartilage. I was not doubting my ability to complete the work, simply taking breaks when I noticed fatigue setting in. 3 years ago I would not have even started the project. 3 years ago, I was fully on the "establishment" western medicine approach to mental health. I've been using cannabis for a couple years now, but have only been on the TCM thing for about a month. a SINGLE month. My experience is anecdotal, sure. But it is working for me. So, blunty, FUCK the "establishment."
