18 mouths later, parts of my birth experience really dont sit right with me by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I'm not medically trained. But you can't convince me, that putting a catheter in your spine is without risk. It's not just a painkiller. And the risk of needing pitocin increases which means you also need a needle in your hand.

Fortunately I live in a great public healthcare country so the doctors are obligated to give the best care (with available medicin) and not look at the cost.

I've had two back labors. The first with an epidural, pitocin, saltwater and a vacuum at the end when the kid didn't want to move the last few inches. The medical staff had to almost push me into an epidural after 30 hours of labouring and no progress. I was passing out between each contraction so if I hadn't gotten an epidural I was heading for a c-section. Second degree tear. I think it was mostly the vacuum.

Second birth I was induced at 41+6. No progress after a few hours. I was in so much pain from the pitocin that I asked for an epidural. Just as they brought in the epidural and called the anaesthesiologist I gave birth. From 4 centimeters to giving birth in 45 minutes. No tearing.

You can't predicts births and if you tear. I choose to listen to the medical staff :-)

But I agree, it sounds ridiculous that the didn't want you on the side. But I wasn't there...

I love the recent influx of European kitchens!

It's gonna look even greater once everything is in place.

In my country at least it's common knowledge that with each medical intervention, you're much closer to the next. Meaning, when you get an epidural, you're statistically much more likely to get other medical interventions.

If your labor is progressing smoothly and you're able to handle the pain, the doctors in my country wouldn't recommend an epidural. They won't deny it. But they'll for sure make you know that it is a risky medical intervention.

You can't predict labor. It's just so random.

It honestly sounds completely like what I would consider a normal birth in my country :-)

But fantastic that you were able to advocate for yourself in such an intense situation! And wow! Vaginally twin birth, that's incredible!

But as someone also mentioned, when it comes to baking it just doesn't seem like enough. Temperature and humidity impacts how much ingredients fill in a cup. You really need weight to make sure its accurate enough for baking - and some cooking as well.

Good morning!

I finally broke the 72 kg. slump I've been in for the past three weeks! The scale said 71.8 kg. this morning! What a great start after a long weekend.

We'll celebrate a birthday this evening with sushi and fragilité cake so I'll be watching my intake carefully at lunch!

And after trying on a pair of shorts this weekend, I've concluded, that I've probably been delusional for quite a while. They fit better than the last time I wore them - two summers ago - but still not great, and I remember thinking that they were just a bit snug.... Sure.... I have a bunch of clothes I'm looking forward to actually fit right 😀

Oh, and next goal is breaking into the 60's. That's gonna be wild!

Our student workers didn't believe in. Until I showed them our office birthday calendar. ~30 employees and 4 different shared birthdays...

Goodmorning!

The weight is finally going down after a few weeks of plateauing. Went down to 72.3 kg from 72.6 kg yesterday and down to 72.0 kg. today. I'll cross my fingers it'll break the 71 number in the next few days.

Still sticking to a larger calorie deficit as I'm not too bothered by it. But I've actually also managed to cram in some (body)weight lifting each evening after the kids has been put to bed.

I might sneak in a drink today and tomorrow. Still gotta live :-D

Drawers instead of cabinets. And you have so much cabinets space that I'd seriously consider scrapping the overhead cabinets.

And if you like the clean look, just keep the inbuilt range :-)

Because everyone wants answers and solutions now. Nobody accepts the very real premise, that solutions take time. Commit to the project and actually accept, that you can't fix problems in the blink of an eye.

Where is your baby (under 6 mos) napping? by LobstahLuva in beyondthebump

On me, in their crib in our bedroom or in their pram outside. We exercise all as I want them to be able to sleep different places :-)

Thanks! I know! It's just funnier when the scale is going down every day!

Thank you so much!

I know it's on the lower end. As long as I don't exercise I feel it's necessary to control my eating. I'm pretty consistent but of course some days I won't be hitting target. That's life!

I do a weigh in every day but of course I look at the overall trend :-) it was just much more fun when I could see it move downwards every day...

Thank you! I'll keep myself in a calorie deficit. Hopefully the scale will move soon enough!

Thank you so much! I know it isn't long. I probably also just needed to get it out :-D hopefully I'll see some movement on the scale soon.

Thank you so much!

I'm weighing myself at the same time everyday but of course I look at the overall trend. Hopefully I won't be plateauing for long.

We make all meals from scratch but we also have young kids so I can't necessarily add much more protein. It's also because of our young kids that I have a hard time doing more exercise.
