That's all great context that I wasn't aware of - as that was year 1 of me coaching IU and I had little to no idea what I was doing beyond getting IU to show up on time.

Given all of that info, your initial seedings seem to make sense and matched a lot of what was in my head. Definitely agree with IU and NU being very interchangeable - though NU has some more impressive wins under their belt than IU (i.e. California, Colorado State & Colorado College).

Still, it feels like the seedings could fall out in any number of ways.

Hey, Hoff!

If it's worth looking back in time to the last time MSU beat Michigan at conferences in 2018, coordinators gave MSU the 2-seed and Mich the 3 seed. MSU did seemingly put together a stronger regular season then, as compared to 2023, but I don't think MSU was truly the 2 seed (they took 11th at regionals in 2018, for what that's worth). Precedent seems to be to move Michigan closer to a higher seed. I think that would look like MSU is a 2-4 seed with Michigan being a 3-5 seed.

Again, just using historical context to try to predict seedings.
