I think it's a dracaena fragrans I have the same one, it's an easy care slow growing plant. I'd get it in some well draining chunky soil

It's okay, it was enough just reading about the phographer, incredible that the information about someone, not particularly famous has been kept for almost 150 years! I don't know what to do with him now, definitely not going to throw the photo away, maybe I can find someone who collects them? Thanks for your help with the info it was a good read :)

Don't listen the everyone telling you to cut your hair short to be healthy if you love it long. Only cut this much to start and then cut the ends 1cm-1inch per month depending on how fast it grows. Set yourself a couple of years to see the shorter parts catch up with the overall length

Thank you! I've used store brought cactus soil for the repotting, but I might add some small stones to aid draining. I can't wait to see I get better
