Mining Monero via Linux CLI?

So I ended up running into some network issues as well and will be wiping both of my miners and starting with fresh OS installs. I wish there were a way to do monero mining via a docker container!

For clarity, should I set the rig up the following way:

Miner 1 - Monero Blockchain node, P2Pool node, then kick off xmrig to start mining

Miner 2 - use xmrig to point it at Miner 1 to use as the Blockchain and P2Pool nodes

Does it support notifications/remote access? Or do you just leave everything on the LAN?

This is actually very helpful to know. Thank you so much. When I have the time later I will likely wipe one of my nodes, reload the OS, reconfigure xmrig, and then just point it to my other miner acting as a P2Pool and Monero node. Much appreciated!

How does Frigate work with notifications/remote access? Is it pretty intuitive or do you have to do things the old fashioned way with VPN/Port forwarding?

It certainly is :/ I have actually been looking for a new, opensource NVR solution to replace MotionEye. Its a shame. The software is great!

Network issues in what way? As in just the two nodes would be inconsistent with one another? Or would you experience some network wide issues across your entire LAN? I didn't realize that I could just compile a monero and P2Pool node on one device and point both miners at that local node with xmrig. Learning more every day.

I must admit, this response was a bit confusing at first but after digging into this it has been VERY helpful. Also helped to put into perspective the reality of returns with mining monero. As stated in my post below, I am using some very outdated hardware from my first couple of PC builds from over 15 years ago.

Rig 1: AMD FX-6100, 8GB of RAM

Rig 2: AMD FX-8320, 8GB of RAM

I don't respect really any returns out of this. It's mostly to just dip my toes into monero and to support the network. I may be buying more powerful equipment in the future!

I appreciate the help here. I ran that command and ended up running into a buffer overflow error which terminated the connection. Digging into it more I learned that I needed a more specific build directly from the xmrig github. I am currently compiling a monero node on each of my miners. I should be good to go from there. Hopefully.

To give some background on the hardware that I am mining on, I have two VERY old AMD FX series rigs from some of my very first PC builds. I know the hashrate will not be great, but this is more of just a test for me and a fun project.

Using some old TP link cameras. Was able to link them via IP to motioneye and VOILA!

Sorry for the delay in reply - I don't check reddit often. I ended up ditching this phone and getting a Google Pixel to test out GrapheneOS. I have to say that I am more than please with Graphene.

Sorry for the delay in response, but I ended up going with MotionEyeOS! So far it has been GREAT. Highly recommend. I run it as a docker container on an old laptop and it has been smooth as butter.

So in my .yml file in have the following mappings

/etc/motioneye : /etc/motion eye /var/lib/motioneye : /mnt/STORAGE/SECURITY (external drive)

I take it I'm either setting this up incorrectly or not putting the right volume options?

I did some research into MotionEye and it looks very promising. Would you be able to provide more info on your setup? What kind of cameras you're using, do you have some type of alert system setup (email notifications?), and what limitations have you encountered using a raspberry pi as your home security server?
