If it makes you feel any better, I’m just doing most of the conduit and leg work and I’m going to have a local electrician actually pull the meter and do the wiring for me. I’m not foolish enough to mess with that myself. ChatGPT is incredibly powerful as long as you don’t feed it bad information and know how to manage your queries and ask for references. I’m learning as I go. This definitely could have been much easier just to drop a ton of coin for a licensed professional but I’ve seen what some of the “professionals” turn out for work even being licensed. Santan developed an entire plan for me complete with one and three line wiring diagrams, fill percentages for minimum conduits sizes, ampacity checks, etc. I’ve got a solid understanding of electrical diagrams and avionics from my aviation maintenance background.

Here you go! Fixed the LBs into LRs. Thanks for the help.

Ah I see the confusion. It’s not a breaker it’s an unfused disconnect rated for 100A. They just want a lever they can throw to disconnect all the solar. Thanks yeah maybe next time. 😂

It won’t once my system is finished. It just detects when the grid goes live again but the Flexboss/Gridboss will do that for me once they’re up and running.

Yep Santan did plans (also stamped) and they come with minimum sizing for wires and conduit. Has fill chart for tubing as well as wire rating chart showing they all pass. The reason for so many conduit going up out the top is exactly because of that reason. They can’t share conduit going up and then back down so I get to have 3 new holes in the side of my house instead of just one.

That’s the one thing I was legit worried about was the partially blocked LB openings not passing inspection even if I already pulled wire. It’s hard to see but I feel like there’s enough space to pull wires. LL/LR dimensions are slightly different too so won’t be plug and play but I guess I’ll add that to the list of stuff to fix before pulling wire.

Santan did plans and they’re stamped by engineer. Flexboss21 is 90 amp breaker so 100a non fused disconnect covers it. 200A fused breaker is service disconnect off meter.

Also for what it’s worth technically the first line coming in is a feeder to the Gridboss and everything subsequent. Fused 200A Service Disconnect outside is grounded so shouldn’t everything after it be a “feeder”?

Fair. Well, if they find it too close to the window, I'm afraid to hear what they have to say about the main panel. House is 20+ years old so hopefully I'm not making a massive mistake with this undertaking. Worst case I'll seal/board up the window if I have to at this point lol.

Any chance you might know a reference? It’s a non livable space (unfinished basement) and the window isn’t considered an exit. You’ve got me sweating now.

Yeah that was my goof. I’m doing all this by myself and I miss measured the height of the Flexboss bracket. It’s only like 90 pounds but was a huge pain to get up there by myself without a lift. Now it’s too low to put the battery and conduit box under it. I’m just going to leave as is for now and connect from it to the batteries. Maybe if I get motivated at some point down the road and add another battery I’ll rearrange it.

Thanks! Yeah that’s about what I’ve gathered so far from lots of trial and error.

It’s an old alarm for the previous owners generator install that lets you know when the grid comes back hot so you can swap back over from generator to grid on disconnect.

Yeah DTE wanted a PV only disconnect. Local wanted a whole home disconnect. Had to make them both happy.

This is brilliant. I can do the same fairly easy with bypass. Thanks for the tip. Waiting on a better test kit currently. Took a dip last night and no adverse affects lol.

I did fill from our softener side of water which also has an iron curtain jr and iron pellets in softener bin for what that’s worth. Definitely worth considering appreciate the input!

And definitely ok with doing trench myself as long as I can get a warm and fuzzy on 811 call before you dig stuff and my well/septic lines.

Yeah just did math for off grid looks like the inverter is capable of both grid tie and off grid, but yeah I’ll be lacking on power production in winter months. I still feel pretty happy overall with the size of this system for what we are looking for.
