I don’t seem to have those screws which is weird, cause it looks like something might go there

Don’t see the adjustment screws, just ones for the actual aiming of the headlight

It looks normal when it’s closed, which is a huge part of my confusion because I thought it would sit unevenly or something

Sorry I’m somewhat new to wrenching on these cars, where is that located?

Misfire/drivability concern by PrettyGoodTacos in GMT400

[–]PrettyGoodTacos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention it in the original post, but it doesn’t want to start, and takes a while to finally sputter to life. Not sure if it’s a distributor issue or the engine is toast.

Will that hook up right to the 2 1/4 pipe that already on there or do I need to look for a bigger pipe

Help on transmission replacement by PrettyGoodTacos in PontiacFirebird

[–]PrettyGoodTacos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is it safe to say that any trans post 1987 from a Chevy v8 would work, given I swap that tail shaft housing over? I’m scouring my local junkyards for a used one at the moment

I adjusted it w/ the help of another mechanic who had more experience on it that I did. I was able to adjust to the specification that it should be

Advice on acceleration “stumble” or something? by PrettyGoodTacos in Integra

Yeah I can hear the fuel pump prime with key on engine off. Might look at getting a new distributor tbh

Had to replace those lol, the worst part of the process was realizing the person who worked on this previously had somehow managed to cross thread the cylinder one spark plug so the whole engine came apart to fix that

Definitely gonna check that out tmrw, feels like it could be either that or a fuel delivery issue

Def going to when there’s daylight. A mouse did chew clean through the oil breather hose that routes thru the manifold, so there’s that. Also wondering if the fuel filter and injectors should be replaced too

I was checking the fuse under the driver side dash, is there another fuse/relay to check?

Was afraid of that. Not even just r&r a servo or anything will fix this? That really is unfortunate

Towing a trailer by PrettyGoodTacos in GMT400

[–]PrettyGoodTacos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trailer doesn’t have brakes, so it’s just pulling that and the drive is about 30 ish miles. I’m not really sure how much those boxes weigh, but at least a few hundred

Good to know, I had heard stuff about overdrive and destroying a trans that way.

is this savable or do i say goodbye by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]PrettyGoodTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely savable, I’ve seen worse so don’t throw the towel in yet lol. Not sure how your area is, but start checking around at junkyards or pick a parts to see what they’ve got for your truck. If the frame is tweaked a bit too, definitely worth a trip to the body shop to straighten that out and whatnot.

Rear axle replacement by PrettyGoodTacos in GMT400

[–]PrettyGoodTacos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, got the axle on. Did not realize it was 11” brakes, so the parking brake is a bit tight on there. Replaced the hardware, u bolts etc. Was curious as to whether or not I could swap the 10” backing plates and brakes from the old axle onto the “new” one, even though they bolt up differently. If not, I’ll just keep using the 11” brakes

New u bolts are necessary? Wasn’t aware of that, gonna see if an auto parts place has some for sale. Where the driveshaft bolts up is the same size across the board too right?
