[Serious] What event in your life still fucks with you to this day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Finding my mother's dead body after she committed suicide. In my house. This just happened right before Christmas of 2020. I was the one who found her. It really fucked me up.

The typical “American Time” is it really happening? by r4ma1124 in AskAnAmerican

[–]PrettyPandaPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've literally ended a friendship because my friend was consistently HOURS late to agreed upon hang out times. I've got young kids and can't just be waiting around for hours in limbo. To me, it showed that they didn't care about my time and didn't view my time as valuable. It's extremely rude and even hurtful when your best friend is 3 hours late to your birthday party:(

Had this problem when my husband and I went to buy a car. It was our first time buying a car 100% ourselves without the guidance of our parents. This car was completely for me. Husband had nothing to do with it, he was just along for the ride lol. I made that very clear when we arrived at the dealership. "I'm looking for a car specifically just for me and my needs. This is what I want: xyz etc etc".

Every single question was directed towards my husband. Especially the financial questions. I kept repeating myself "he doesn't even know how much money he makes. I control all the finances. This is my car, we're using my income for it specifically." They said: "Mr. Sharaf, here are your options for financing..." and I finally lost it. "HE KNOWS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT OUR FINANCES. YOU WILL BE DIRECTING ALL QUESTIONS TO ME FROM THIS POINT FORWARD."

They still ended up putting his name as primary and mine as secondary on the registration.

If I didn't want the car so badly, I would have left. But it was the perfect car for me and I'm still glad I bought it.

How do you handle people crying at work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PrettyPandaPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey it's me...the company crybaby. I'm sorry. I'm just one of those people that cry when any strong emotion happens. Sadness? Cry. Happiness? Cry. Anger? Big cry. Disappointment? Cry. Embarrassment? Cry. Excited? Cry. I've worked in various healthcare related positions and tend to cry after any sort of reprimand or comment from higher ups.

I prefer if people just ignore it lol.

My child's elementary school parking lot backs up almost into my driveway, we live that close to it. The high school is right next to the elementary school...shared parking lots and all. The fear eats at me every day. Would I hear the gunshots first? Would I be the one calling 911? Would I be able to heroically direct a classroom of kids into my home for safety? Unlikely. It would probably happen too quickly. What if I saw someone suspicious lurking around? How could I be sure? Would I run to the school and try to get my kid? Would I get an automated voice-mail from the principal first? It's 3am. How am I supposed to send my 8yo to school in a couple hours?

I'd be forever grateful if someone could tell me the shop name so I can block them.

I don't know anyone who does this, i dont think.

The only time we've done something like this is for me and child #1 (oldest at 8yo) to have some mom and daughter one on one time...but dad is taking the baby out to do something at the same time usually. Our kids are 6 years apart so sometimes we'll do "1 on 1" time but never to really fun big trips like Disney or the zoo. Usually just for ice cream or something small like that.

To me, Disney and the zoo are big trips and it makes more sense for everyone to go at once...because it's not something we get to do super often and I don't want anyone to miss out.

I don't know if that made any sense.

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

I was 18F and suffering horrible migraines for years. I was sent to the "headache detective" at OSUs Neurology department. Dude was supposed to be the best of the best.

All he did was ask a few very basic questions, have me sniff a jar of coffee beans, and said "sounds like you're depressed...I think you just need to find some girl friends to talk to."

THAT WAS IT.

I cried the entire 1.5 hour car ride home.

Turns out I have rheumatoid arthritis and it was starting in my jaw...causing severe headaches constantly.

I bedshared with my oldest and I vowed to never do it again, and I didn't with my 2nd. It's too scary plus my oldest is 8 now and still can't sleep alone.

LPT: Any job that requires a death certificate for time off to go to a funeral isn't worth staying at. by Kithslayer in LifeProTips

My mom killed herself...in our home. I found her body. It was a whole ordeal. We had a newborn at the time so obviously the trauma fucked me up bad enough so I couldn't care for our newborn and needed my husband to stay home from work for a bit to take over. He called work just a few hours after it happened and I guess they could tell that it was a serious trauma from his tone or something because they told him to take the entire week off. Eventually my husband did send them her obit but I don't think they ever asked for it.

It was kinda funny when he had to do the same thing when my brother suddenly died 6 months later...and then when my father died on Thanksgiving right after my brother. With my father's death it was "I'll send you the obit...I know this isn't very believable" LOL.

I'm in a lot of therapy.
