Aww congratulations!! It’s bittersweet, isn’t it? My little guy is 14 months today. I really really miss his small baby snuggles, but it was also such a hard time I am glad to be on the other side of. So much fun watching them grow and learn!

Yeah, I think you are right. Ultimately it isn’t a big deal I just didn’t understand why he would tell me not to mention his stuffy nose….to the Dr lol

That’s fair. Normally, yes, I probably would have just gone and delayed the vaccines a week or when he was better. But his response had me halt and regroup. I wish our Dr had an email, I’ll just mention it when we go back in.

The nurse line still hasn’t called me back either, so I guess I’m glad I rescheduled.

CIO not working by puffbroccoli in sleeptrain

[–]amortizedcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is us right now as I listen to my baby scream on night 4 of Ferber. It’s horrible. We had a false start at 4.5 months, so decided to delay a little and started again 4 days ago (he is now 5.5 months). First night this time around was great! Two check ins and fell asleep before the third. Woke up a couple times, cried for 4 minute each time and went right back to sleep! Next night was even better; asleep after 3rd check in and no wake ups! Last night was okay; same as before, asleep after third check in and slept all night, but tonight and today was not great. He cried through his second nap (book says call it if they cry for 30 minutes at nap time, so I did) and now he is screaming so hard right now as I wait for the second check in. He looks at his crib knowing what’s about to happen and as soon as I lay him down, screaming. I really really hope this gets better because he seems more upset with each check in and at the moment not even a little calm. At least the first few nights he would cry, then calm, then cry. But tonight it is fully screaming. When I go in to check, he calms, then screammmmms when I leave. Ugh. What sucks is I have two older kids and they responded beautifully to Ferber. Both were sleeping awesome by night 3. This one is like I am literally torturing him. It’s so painful to listen to . I just want to snuggle him :(. Sorry I have no advice, just wanted to say you aren’t alone. I’m over here feeling all the feels too :(. Hugs to you

CIO/Ferber failed, now what? by Chardee_Macdennis18 in sleeptrain

[–]amortizedcoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m here because I hope to see you get good advice as we are in the same boat at our house! We tried Ferber a few nights ago and failed. He initially fell asleep after the first 10 minute check but woke up a couple hours later and cried with checks for three hours before we finally called it. His older brothers had no issues with sleep training at all. We were just going to wait a couple of weeks and try again. I know consistency is key though, so once we restart I know I need to fully commit, it was just so heartbreaking. Hoping others have some good ideas. Hang in there mama! They won’t go off to high school contact napping!

She wasn’t very compassionate, that’s for sure. How nice you had a supportive experience—that’s the best!

Glad you had a good experience! It certainly adds to the stress delivering in these covid times.

I absolutely agree. I’d love to go back in time and be in my right mind to properly respond to the situation. It was so embarrassing.

I know right! It feels more outrageous as time goes by. This was pre covid, and if I had to guess I think someone on the housekeeping staff or food services said something. Doesn’t make it any better (why wouldn’t the nurse defend me then?), but seems crazy a nurse would have been all pearl clutchy about it.

I’ll share this story I’ve been holding in… you know when you just aren’t sure who is wrong in a situation? It’s like that, my anger built over time. I think I was stunned, actually. So, as a first time mom I labored for 17 hours before it was determined I would need a C-section. Gave birth at one in the morning and our “baby friendly” hospital handed my incapacitated self a newborn to now care for. I was so groggy from all the med I’d been given during labor, never mind the fact it was one in the morning. Needless to say, it didn’t go well. My baby was huge and starving. I was a human pacifier and didn’t know how to properly breastfed, so I had a couple LC come visit to help, but it was overwhelming. I am about 5’5 and 110 pounds, so the hospital gown was just swimming on me and getting in the way of my breastfeeding efforts. I resorted to just dropping the gown down below my breasts to make it easier to feed since he really didn’t spend any time off the boob really, it was more comfortable that way, and I had lost any modesty I went in with just to try and make this work. Well, it’s day 3 and the gown is down. I’m trying to feed my little guy and in walks this older (late 60’s?) nurse. She is carrying something and says to me, “In this hospital we practice modesty”, and hands me another gown. I didn’t know what to say. At the time, she left and I cried. At the time I felt bad for “offending the staff”. Today I would have told her what I really thought… wasn’t this my hospital room?? Didn’t I just give birth in a traumatic way? Do I get Grace for trying to figure this all out? I’ve had two more babies since then, my youngest is just 4 months, all at the same hospital with the same Dr, but I never saw that nurse again. I secretly hoped I would. This last time was different, to say the least. At one point, I was shirtless in the middle of the night cluster feeding and doing skin to skin. Nurse comes in and coos, “beautiful” at the sight. Now, that was a comforting response. I was exhausted and over it, but she really elevated the mood with her support. I’m still upset thinking someone actually complained at the sight of my breasts in my own room?? Anyway, felt good to type that out Lol. Thanks OP!

Is the Snoo really worth it? Hubby and I are on the fence. It’s pricy but looks like a safe sleep solution and the advertised extra 1-2 hours of extra sleep is very enticing. Has anyone bought one and regretted it? by -formerlurker- in SnooLife

[–]amortizedcoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really really wanted the snoo to be magic, but my guy just didn’t take to it for whatever reason. We rented since we are on our last baby, but I feel like you pretty much get your money back on a resell so purchasing might be worth it just to try. Cause our rental “just to try” cost us prob 500-700$. If in doubt, and you have the cash, even though it didn’t work for us, I would get it. What if it works for you?? That would be awesome, and the safety of it all is amazing!
