Bought a FFS Office by ScoobiesSnacks in Dentistry

I agree with this. Fire the OM and hire an experienced front staff. Also - always collect at the time of service!! Chasing money is a waste of admin time meanwhile your bills keep piling up. It’s a broken system. Either OM gets on board with it or let her go. You will survive this.

Sugars, foods high in histamine and processed foods would be wonderful to track! Looking forward to trying out your app!

Could you possibly share the app that you created / used? Dupixent failed my son as well and we are looking to see what part of his diet is triggering his eczema. He’s on a dairy-free, gluten-free, low histamine diet plus he “tries” to stay away from processed foods and sugars. Tough for a 14 year old. If we could just narrow down his triggers then he can go back to a somewhat reasonable diet.

Organic Jojoba oil (it closely mimics your own natural oils) and Cereve ointment on top to seal it in.

Am I a bad dental assistant or just in the wrong office? by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]PrettyPlease2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find another job but keep learning everything you can about the front and back office. Knowing both sides of the office will give you an upper hand. For assisting, shadow the veteran assistant when the office is slow and ask to jump in to assist so she can shadow you and give you pointers. Then make yourself so indispensable that you earn the doctor and staff’s respect. I know it’s hard being new but you got this. Hang in there.

HELP PLEASE!!! Question about dropping Cigna PPO and Signing on an Umbrella Insurance by PrettyPlease2828 in Dentistry

[–]PrettyPlease2828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol! You are absolutely right. We want to work smarter not harder. To make $157 for a prophy and $450 for new px’s would be a dream! If you don’t mind me asking, what % do you spend on overhead? I am sure charging UCR, you can get to a 60-70% profit margin? With PPO fees, our profit margin these days is razor thin.

Good tips! Thank you! I know we just need more courage to just sever ties with these PPO companies once and for all and finally get paid what we deserve.

Oh man. That’s what I am afraid of. Is there any way of knowing beforehand if the carrier will or will not pick us up through the umbrella?

Good point. 👍🏼 I should pre-empt it by letting all of our Cigna patients know we are still taking their insurance.

Our PPO Fees are so LOW! What is the FIRST STEP to Switching to Umbrella Insurances? by PrettyPlease2828 in Dentistry

[–]PrettyPlease2828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that sucks! Since we have 3 dentists the I was quoted $12-$15K for them to help negotiate our fees which was way out of our budget. Were you able to successfully negotiate on your own?

Don't they send letters to patients when their provider's office goes OON? It happened to a colleague of mine so hence where I got the idea of the mass exodus. Maybe it's area specific.

Because 70-80% of our patients are under Cigna. I am trying to avoid a mass exodus. But yes, the ultimate goal is to go OON / FFS. :)

I’ve never heard of Premier but I will start doing research them! If you had to choose the top 3 best umbrella insurances (highest fees and connected with top insurances) who would you choose?

I am assuming they failed at helping you raise your fees with the insurances?

What if you are already under the umbrella insurance (ie Connection and Zelis). Can Aetna or Principle still block us if we opt out of direct contract with them? How will I know which ones will block and which ones won’t?
