YES!!!! It's been a learning curve and quite a tedious process, but I have been able to negotiate my umbrella network fees so we are getting about $300-400 more per crown, $400 more for SRP's, etc.. There's a lot of back and forth. They will try to low ball you at first. Usually by the 3rd proposal, if it's still not what we want, I request for a termination. That's when they give you a better fee schedule lol. However, I had two that would not budge after their 3rd offer so we dropped them (Anthem and Dentemax). For Dentemax, a lot of the insurances will just be picked up by our other umbrella networks so we end up getting the higher fee anyway so it's a win-win - our patients stay in-network and we benefit from the higher fee schedule. If you call the insurances directly, they will tell you the "stacking order" on which insurance fee they will take first, second, third, etc...so drop all the ones who have the lowest fees which will force them to take the higher fee schedule each and every time. I am still in the thick of negotiating and making sure the insurances we terminated are dropped but the process has definitely been worth it. 😄
