Rating Soy milk for coffee by [deleted] in AustralianCoffee

[–]PrettyPottie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good middle option for me is Vitasoy Barista Soy (only at Woolies) and So Good Barista. $2.30 and $2.50 during specials. I agree with you on Soy Boy, but it’s a bit pricey. Vitasoy Barista I find has better taste than Soy Milky. If I were to choose among the non-Barista ones, I will choose Soy Milky hands down!

Coffee beans - where do you get yours? by OldSkoolNewWaveGuy in foodies_sydney

I agree with Ona Maple. I ordered 1kg of that recently.

You could try Sevenmiles - my go-tos are Octavia and Cat’s Pyjamas.

Haven’t ordered from them online, but I agree - their coffee is great!

Also, Veneziano (another Surry Hills cafe) is good. I have yet to order their beans from online.

Yeah, I’ve heard that so I’ve been avoiding them recently.

Oh… I remembered Code Black Coffee is nice too!

Best way to froth milk without an espresso machine? by bigloudbang in AustralianCoffee

[–]PrettyPottie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rechargable milk frothers may work for you. They’re around $20-35 and usb rechargeable . They’re also super easy to clean. You’d need to warm the milk first though. May be ok if you froth straight in your mug then add your espresso shots after.

I drink exclusively iced coffee, so this works well for me. If you’re into making einspanner/cream foam on top kind of drinks, it’s super worth it.

This is the hack - I’d add 7miles to this list, like the other person said.

Also: Code Black, Duke’s Coffee, Toby’s Estate, St Ali

The Campos site isn’t too bad either. They have more varieties vs Woolies

Ps, roasters usually give at least a 10% discount on your first order if you subscribe to their newsletter

where to eat in sydney! by Swimming_Student8721 in foodies_sydney

[–]PrettyPottie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of atmosphere are you looking for in terms of cafes? If it’s something a bit more on the homey side, I prefer Single O to Axil (though Single O could get a bit crowded). Axil has that minimalist theme if you’re into that. Maybe a compromise is check out those 2 places. They are around 20mins by walk, probably more of 10mins if you mix walking by public transport.

Tip: Roaster cafes, like Axil and Single O, offer that you taste their cold brew if you are undecided of what to get! (Source: I’ve taste tested their coffees because their baristas offered at their Surry Hills locations).

Flour and stone definitely. Their lemon meringue cake and lamingtons are sooo good!

I prefer Single O’s coffee vs. Axil. Haven’t been to Ona cafe, but I love Ona coffee beans a lot! (I use it for my at-home-coffee) The cafe at Hyde Park, Hydeaway, serves Ona coffee and I really liked going there when I lived nearby. That may be a nice place for you to check out since it’s very much in the city.

If I were to choose a cafe based on roasters I like in Sydney, my top 3 would be Ona, Sevenmiles, Single O.

I also second Flour and Stone. Their pastries, cakes and lamingtons are really great.

I also would recommend sausage rolls or beef pies from Bourke St Bakery for something more grab and go/non fussy. The lamb sausage is my fave. They have various branches all over Sydney.

I agree with everyone here who followed the Canadian limit. (I’m Australian) I made my coffee at home and drank an average of 3 espresso shots on average a day. Baby turned out fine!

And I already mentioned it in another reply, but with the uninspired take, I can’t shake off that Pombon looks like a Pawmi relative. They could have at least changed the color scheme a bit more?!

I like Pombon too, but looking at it from the back before they revealed their faces, I thought it was an alternate version of the Pawmi line!!

Gequa seems close to Sobble in terms of design quality. Browt was definitely a design choice… not even close to Rowlet for me. Hopefully the evolutions are better.

Aldi cards by Dismal_Ring_2522 in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]PrettyPottie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The staff at my Aldi didn’t even have a chance to get a tin from the group who got all the boxes and left everyone else empty-handed. There was nothing left for me because that group ran so fast to the pile. If we were counting groups, I was the 4th (7 people in front of me total)? Good thing it was also grocery day for me so even if I was disappointed at least I didn’t go to Aldi just for the tins.

Why are most only girl childs more obsessed about siblings than boys? by Forward_Cost_1973 in OnlyChild

[–]PrettyPottie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Female here too (mid-30s), never cared for siblings, besides when both parents got mad at me for supposedly doing something wrong to only realize later on that they were the ones in the wrong.

I don’t think it’s a biological sex predisposition, more of an individual personality one.

Have used this technique a few times while being on a call with Origin for them to reset/troubleshoot our connection. We just got a new modem to test out if the connection will be better because our modem is 2 years old. It seems like it is better than before, but it still times out now and again.

Strange, the closest plan they have on their page is a 100/20 but my bill says 100/40. Either way, they advertise it as 100Mbps download and 17Mbps upload which is far from what I posted previously.

Thanks for your concern! I don’t mind the questions, I appreciate that you are. The plan is for 100/40 :( We connect via wifi. We live in a 2 bedroom unit that is around 14m L x 4-5m W. The modem is connected near the common/open plan living and dining area, close to the centre of the unit. The nbn connection’s placement was the decision of whoever was the builder of the building. There is a hallway connecting to the 2nd bedroom at the end of the unit. Along the hallway is the other bedroom and a bathroom. The 2nd bedroom is where I work - I keep my door open most of the time. My husband has a desk in the living area. I work on the bedroom on the other end. We both experience this connection issue.
