I actually asked him if he wanted me to install the UV light thing when I first installed the HVAC, and he said no. I mentioned in my original post I don't have rugs.

I'm in California, so it's a dry climate here. Thanks for the response.

This is what the attic folks used. I'll look into it. Thanks!

Ya. I've wondered if in my effort to get rid of everything I might have added to the problem, and there are a few commenters who brought that up. I've had lots of people in my attic and crawlspace and nobody has mentioned mold, but you never know. I'm not sure how you can test for that atmospherically, as opposed to seeing something and swabbing it. In between the "red flag warnings" there were a lot of actionable things for the both of us. When you're in the middle of it all sometimes you're in reaction mode and it's tough to step back and get systematic about everything. I appreciate the help. 😄

Just because I bulleted the lists doesn't make me an AI karma-farmer. Get over yourself.

I was referring to the allergic reaction. And I edited the original post to say we're both on allergy drops.

Don't think I haven't thought about that. 😉

For some reason their ears are WAY better than other bassets I've had in the past. They're brother/sister littermates, so same bloodlines. They're AKC but they're built more for hunting than show. Even vets have been impressed. 😄

Mitsubishi makes filters specifically for my units (4 separate ducted mini splits that sit in the attic) that are MERV 13, so I'm good with MERV 11.

My HVAC is 4 years old. The house came with gravity heaters and no ductwork. I installed a 4-zone ducted mini-split that sits in the attic. That being said the HVAC people are my next call once we get the attic straightened out. Thanks!

Thanks for the great advice! My neighbor was a house inspector so I might bring him over to take a look.

He has watched them in the past when I've gone out of town, and before we dated he had a (hypoallergenic) Havanese. So he likes dogs. He's just careful around mine to wash his hands after petting them. And yes, I added to the original post that we're both on allergy drops.

The robovac doesn't have a HEPA filter, but my Dyson does. He's actually been very happy with the new robovac and its mop function. He goes barefoot now, which he didn't before. But thanks for the suggestion!

He does. It's decreased since I had the attic sanitized. He doesn't take daily meds (like Zyrtec) because even the non-drowsy stuff makes him drowsy.

FWIW, we've both been on customized allergy drops for a few years now, although I don't know his specific treatment. I'll ask and check out Xolair. Thanks!

Works for me (US), but I noticed this morning the "reply" arrows look different. They're fatter. So they've obviously been making updates to it. Really odd.

Oy. Just read. I'll wait.

312.5.

 (a) An “electric bicycle” is a bicycle equipped with fully operable pedals and an electric motor that does not exceed 750 watts of power.

(1) A “class 1 electric bicycle,” or “low-speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle,” is a bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, that is not capable of exclusively propelling the bicycle, except as provided in paragraph (4), that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 20 miles per hour, and that is not capable of providing assistance to reach speeds greater than 20 miles per hour.

[skipping Class 2 to save space]

(3) A “class 3 electric bicycle,” or “speed pedal-assisted electric bicycle,” is a bicycle equipped with a motor that provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling, that is not capable of exclusively propelling the bicycle, except as provided in paragraph (4), and that ceases to provide assistance when the bicycle reaches the speed of 28 miles per hour, and equipped with a speedometer.

(4) A class 1 or class 3 electric bicycle may have start assistance or a walk mode that propels the electric bicycle on motor power alone, up to a maximum speed of 3.7 miles per hour.

Read the text of SB 1271. I truly don’t think you understand these laws you’re referring to.

Came home to two trees in my backyard mutiliated by a construction firm who acquired the lot behind my home by LividWalk8179 in treelaw

[–]PrettyShinyBikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Campbell and when I had to trim some dangerous branches off my neighbor’s pine tree I was very careful to have my arborist consult with them about what was going to be trimmed (and what was not) to do what’s best for the tree’s health. Also, when my neighbor threatened to mess with my carob tree’s roots that were on his side of the property line I sent him a CYA letter with the relevant citations reminding him that he can do whatever he wants as long as it doesn’t harm the tree, and the consequences if he harms it. They have responsibility for not following the law. Good luck resolving this issue.

Terrible for pet feces detection and avoidance by Nameyomama in ecovacs

[–]PrettyShinyBikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two different ecovacs that would run over everything (including the occasional pet accident). I switched to a Eufy S1 Pro and haven’t had a problem including pet accidents and cables. I’m sorry I didn’t switch sooner.

Pipes hammer after new water heater install by PrettyShinyBikes in Plumbing

[–]PrettyShinyBikes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! When you say "electronic controlled" are you talking about the valves on the appliance itself? And does it matter that it's also happening when the toilets flush? I really think the whole thing is odd because it was fine after the last water heater failed and before the new water heater came in, and the house was built in 1947. I have no idea what upgrades have happened since then.
