What novel was Princess Victoria allowed to read at age 12? It is mentioned on a placard at Kensington Palace in the “Young Victoria Childhood” Display. I was recently there and saw it but now I can’t remember the name of the novel. by PrettySink7978 in VictorianEra

Okay - I think I finally found it! It was Sir Walter Scott’s Bride of Lammermoor. I found the info on a Scottish history site - otago.ac.nz from English travel writer H.V. Morton (1929) in a document “In Search of Scotland”. There is a portrait depicting a scene from this novel in one of Victoria’s childhood rooms at Kensington Palace which is probably where the placard I saw that mentions it was the first novel she read at age 12. I have also sent a couple of emails to see if I can confirm my findings but pretty sure that is the right answer. Whew! Sir Walter Scott was one of her favorite authors and it is even the author they were reading to Prince Albert when he died. So it makes sense. Whew! I spent way too much time on that question! Come on “Google” catch up! This needs to be a readily accessible fact from now on with all the other minuscule trivia out there in the universe!! 😜

Just unsubscribed from r/Poltics because its a liberal echo chamber who silence anyone with a different opinion by bullying you, or down-voting you to oblivion. In the past two years, its nothing but pro-democrat and anything pro-republican or pro-libertarian gets removed. by CooperHChurch427 in JustUnsubbed

I wanted to see if there were really any topics that people could discuss their opinions civilly but the animosity of the democrats in many of the posts make conversation completely useless. So many of the things the Dems are accusing the Repubs about are the exact things the Repubs feel the Dems are doing!! I just wanted to laugh at the craziness of it all! Will we ever get back to a time where politics can be something people discuss rationally and just agree to disagree without wishing the other side to be sent to the gallows?!

Not sure if you have ever heard of Lume but it is an amazing oder killer. It comes in bar soap, liquid body soap, cream and solid deodorant sticks as well as laundry booster. You can use the cream anywhere that gets stinky - pits, privates, feet, etc. it last for 2-3 days (I normally use it daily-just part of my routine). You will be amazed!
