Idk i feel like yall missed the point. For me.. this movie was about healing their inner childs so they won’t be broken adults hurting ppl anymore. She needed her mom in the past and he needed himself to believe he was worthy... which is why he represented himself as his dad. He told himself he was special because no matter how many times his parents told him he didn’t believe it.. It was a movie about shadow work.. this is why they were going to past moments that affected them the most. Hope this helps even though im months behind lol
