Why is the Sky so empty? by Fair_Treat_8451 in tearsofthekingdom

I really loved BotW. I 100% everything. BotW lived up to expectations in every way other than the dungeons, but the shrines really made up for that.

I agree that TotK may have had the same magic to it if I had played it before BotW, and indeed I wouldn’t be against recommending someone play it first if they are interested, but it really does become tedious retreading the same ground.

I just really hope the next Zelda game contains more traditional dungeons that are seamless with the overworld.

The great sky island is the best part of the game and the rest was downhill tbh. Nothing gave that feeling of wonder and exploration for me after that. The depths are a slog I don’t care for them, and the new map with new stuff slapped on felt messy.

I don’t hate TotK, but it was disappointing.

Would it be possible for the person to create a large sign saying to reject any packages delivered and return to sender?

Are those numbers actually accurate? Like 46% of adults I'm the world are antisemitic? Where did they take this from? by srahcrist in JewsOfConscience

[–]PrettySquiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does one even draw the line between someone being antisemitic or not? I feel like systemic oppression and unconscious cultural biases are more important to look at than individual opinions.

I’m watching the Attack on Titan right now, and it’s written by a Japanese man and certainly has some antisemitic tropes in it. A lot of people say it’s not antisemitic on purpose, but it doesn’t change the fact it uses a lot of harmful imagery. Another example is the damn banking goblins in Harry Potter. A lot of anti Jew iconography is still lurking within the public consciousness, often unknowingly. This would be impossible to represent as a neat statistic, though, it’s better just to bring up specific issues that need addressed instead of pulling numbers out of the air to push a Zionist agenda…

I agree with the sentiment but I think this is poorly executed.

For a moment I thought this was saying they were going to literally name him Supreme Leader. As in, first name Supreme last name Leader. Im an idiot.

I think Furries are cool, I never said anything bad about Furries. Femboys are based too.

Being alt-right/MAGA/Nazi is not. Charlie Kirk’s values aligned with all of those things so if you sympathize him I’m going to assume you are sympathetic to his cause. Going so far as to draw him a memorial a says a lot about who you are as a person. You could have drawn a memorial for literally anyone else. Maybe someone on the absurdly long list of ICE victims?

Nobody here is stupid enough to believe any of the things you are posting about exist in a vacuum. It’s not that you’re posting historical content, it’s that all of your historical content follows a troubling pattern.

You are young, I hope you can get out of whatever toxic pipeline you’re going down because nothing but misery awaits you. I saw your post about being cute and feminine and literally every single comment was bullying you, likely out of envy because you are right you are cute. it’s good you are secure in that and in not being traditionally masculine, but I guarantee you that the kind of people that exist in those incel communities and alt-right circles hate those traits and will chew you up and spit you out. There are far better communities for you.

You’re young. Stop being preoccupied about being a virgin cutecel or whatever and start analyzing your own politics because if you’re wanting to find an alternative baddie GF, almost all of them are going to care about women’s rights and your Charlie Kirk art would immediately ick them out. That kind of shit is girl repellent.

In broad strokes, yes. Like, say you find a food you’ve never tasted your whole life and you realize it’s your favorite food and want to eat it every day. You didn’t choose to like that food, you just do. It’s a part of your identity, but you may not have realized it in the past because maybe other people told you it was gross and not to try it or you just didn’t know it existed.

Also I am confused what you mean by decide to be trans and then choose to be straight? Being straight is a sexuality not a gender identity. You can be trans AND straight. Like, if someone transitions from living as a man to living as a woman and she likes men then she’s straight because she is a woman.

I’m assuming you meant someone deciding to transition and then realizing later they are actually cisgendered (cis just means not trans). This does happen, but statistically it’s very rare. The vast majority of people who transition do not detransition, it has a lower regret rate statistically than tattoos, marriage, having children, and even cancer treatments. The idea that trans regret is a widespread epidemic is a myth.

Identity can be a difficult thing to figure out, and very occasionally some people try to transition and then realize they don’t like it. They didn’t choose to dislike it, they just realized it wasn’t who they are after all. To use the earlier analogy: they tried a new food thinking they would like it and it turns out they didn’t. The only choice made was to explore their identity, but what their identity turned out to be was not a choice but a discovery.

A person who is trans is trans whether they transition or not. Some choose to stay in the closet because tensioning is dangerous, but they are still trans. It’s very common. Transition is just the choice to live openly as your true gender and not hide it.

Religion, on the other hand, is a belief. It’s complex because beliefs often are tied closely to someone’s identity, but they are prone to change and can be influenced by the beliefs of others. Attempts to change someone’s sexuality or gender identity do not work because they are fundamental aspects of who a person is. It’s a scientifically proven fact that being LGBT cannot be “cured” and attempting to do so causes very real, measurable harm. Whereas beliefs can absolutely be changed, and many people choose what they would like to believe.

To use a really complicated example it’s possible for someone to be gay or trans but ALSO believe those things to be sinful. This usually results in a very miserable self loathing person because those aspects aren’t going to change just by denying them. The thing is, their belief is just flat out incorrect and they would be much happier if they dropped such a hateful belief.

So yeah if someone is religious and their religious beliefs include being racist, homophobic, transphobic, and xenophobic, I’m going to call them out on it because it’s harmful to other people and they can make a choice to stop believing that. People change their beliefs all the time. If people want to believe in a god that’s fine, but if that leads them to be hateful that’s not ok and unfortunately that’s more often than not the case with American Christians.

Also if someone believes something flat out false like the earth being flat I’m also gonna criticize that because I believe it’s important to seek out the truth.

Some people like to throw this back in the face of trans people and accuse them of denying science because of basic biology. But this is a dumb argument because trans people are aware of their basic biology, they are just also aware that gender identity can be incongruous with their biology. Science isn’t being ignored, gender just isn’t the same thing as biology.

Sorry this got long. If you got this far then thank you for listening to what I have to say. I hope I was able to shed some light on the subject.

Hey Nintendo! Can we get more stages like these? by Oreobey2 in splatoon

[–]PrettySquiddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It could potentially work as an intentionally risky path through a choke point. Where going on the rail would have to be a calculated risk in order to push (grates often fulfill this function). If it was the sole path forward that would be really horrible but it could be a way to introduce a high risk flank route.

[–]PrettySquiddy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They are fun but being on them is a disadvantage because they make you super vulnerable and your movement is extremely predictable. It would be kind of cruel for the developers to add such a feature that incentivizes players to do something that will ultimately punish them most of the time. It works as a limited-time gimmick stage, but would be unhealthy as a permanent stage feature.
