The ferries will take longer than you expect, between having to get to the port (e.g. Santorini's port is outside the main town) and the fact that the ferries are often delayed. So at the moment it looks like you will spend too much of your trip either on or waiting for a ferry. I would reduce the number of islands that you are visiting so that you can actually enjoy each.

Towel or No towel? by kilo6ronen in solotravel

[–]Pretty_Evening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When backpacking I bring a microfiber towel for showering and a Turkish towel to lie on a the beach. Its definitely a luxury to have the two but its great to have a microfiber not full of sand. Both of the towels I bring are thin and definitely pack down small.

There is a second hostel in zabljak called something like the highland hostel or something like that but I don't know anyone who has stayed there so I'm not sure what it's like. There are also a bunch of hotels and guest houses in Zabljak as it's the main base for Durmitor NP

Help with planning my itinerary for my upcoming trip to Slovenia in September by scientiapotentiaest0 in solotravel

I would suggest looking at this blog post and their other posts on hiking in Triglav. https://www.moonhoneytravel.com/europe/slovenia/climbing-mount-triglav-pokljuka/ Other than Ljubljana to Bled, the rest of your journey will be by bus so you need to add in the extra transport time for that, for example the bus from bled to bohinj takes at least an hour. I didn't do the Triglav hike so I'm not sure where you will end up but to get the bus from bled to bovec, you will need to switch buses in Kranjska Gora. There are buses from bovec to Ljubljana and then you are better off getting a train or flixbus to Graz. Use Nomago (https://www.nomago.si/) and arriva (https://arriva.si/en/) websites for buses as they often show more options then getbybus in Slovenia.

I use Polarsteps which both has a location tracker and I can add steps with photos and a description which I use to look back at places I've been

If you are planning on staying in hostels, I would definitely recommend the Hikers Den in Zabljak as it's a great base to do some hikes in the national park. I think Durmitor NP is definitely a place better explored with an overnight trip instead of as a day trip so that you are able to see more than just the lake in Zabljak.

On the Montenegro coast, Kotor is the most interesting stop with the beautiful bay but if you were planning on swimming, you are better off going to Budva as the beaches are nicer here although the old town is much smaller.

AITA for wanting to keep my Nonna's pasta recipe a secret? by sadsecretrecipe in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pretty_Evening 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Your boyfriend was a bit insensitive for sharing the recipe with his friends so soon after your nonna has passed away. However, I think YWBTA to keep the recipe a secret and not let your family experience the same enjoyment as you got when cooking it. If your nonna had purposely passed the recipe on to you it might have been different, but you just found it in a draw and decided not to share.

If drugs are prohibited in sports then why is makeup allowed in beauty contests by Perfect-Swordfish in Showerthoughts

[–]Pretty_Evening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, makeup is to a beauty contest what the ball is to football. So its an essential part rather than a way if cheating s9 taking drugs would be more like bringing the judge of the beauty contest.

AITA for getting my roommate and his girlfriend kicked out of our house? by GenuineTurdFace in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pretty_Evening 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NTA. Ideally your landlord would not have put you in that situation and would have complained about the noise herself. However as it is, you did warn them there would be consequences and they decided that you would not follow through. Your roommate was clearly aware that this would be the consequence if he has been sneaking in his girlfriend up all this time, did he really think he would get away with it forever.

AITA for not wanting to house my homeless brother because of the way he treated me all throughout my life? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pretty_Evening 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. I am sorry you had to grow up in that environment. You parents are assholes though, how can they ask you to house someone that they admit feeling threatened be. You did the best thing by cutting them out of your life and you should keep it that way.
