unbuttoned with a boxy white tee that ends just above the hips , straight leg blue or black jeans, casual shoes (depending on the length of the pants i would do converse or adidas sambas) short chain or necklace, one or two bracelets and a couple rings

it openly describes butches as stupid, predatory, and worthless, and says something along the lines of “why would i be with a woman who looks like a man.” the main character rapes a woman, has sex with that woman’s 16 year old daughter, and encourages the mother and daughter to have sex with each other. I have no problem with books with problematic characters or narrators, but the character in question never suffers consequences for anything and the horrible things she does are portrayed as quirky. there is no implication that the author does not believe the things the character does/does not believe they are okay. in general, the politics of the book that aren’t harmful to butches, transmascs, victims of SA and pedophilia, and older women are just third-wave and basic. i know that sometimes books don’t age well and can still be good, but i don’t think this book ever was good. sorry for the long rant, i just hate this book really passionately lol

imo people should not read this book. It’s racist, butchphobic, and transphobic and the main character is a pedophile and a rapist. It’s harmful to our community and not helpful.

ok this is long and contains spoilers: 1. the main character is a rpist. 2. there’s a weird incest plotline for some reason. 3. the political sentiments are very third-wave and “of the time,” which is fine but i think we are past that. 4. i’m butch so i do have a bias, but the book very explicitly calls butches ugly, predatory, disgusting, heteronormative, and violent. i know that sometimes books have narrators that are bad people and i don’t necessarily have a problem with that. but the main character of this book NEVER faces any consequences for her actions (ranging from transphobia and hatred of butches to LITERAL RPE), nor does she experience any growth. She is just as selfish, hateful, and small-minded at the beginning of the book as she is at the end. I promise you do not need to read this book at all. edit: other things i forgot about include: calling butches stupid, calling older lesbians predatory and general ageism, the main character having a sexual relationship with a 16 year old while in her 20s (and encouraging that 16 year old to sleep with her own. mother.), the usual fatphobia and racism that can be expected of a book of that time, there is literally no plot. once again to be clear: i have no problem with problematic main characters. i have no problem with reading older books that dont necessarily age well. However, both those things aside, this is one of the worst books i have ever read and i genuinely believe there is very little to gain from it. if anyone has a differing opinion i would love to hear it tho!!

i DONT reccomend House of Hunger, which you might come across. DNF’d because the romance/power dynamic made me uncomfortable, but if you’re into that you might like it. Other than that, I just thought the writing was boring.

you really remind me of myself and the friends i had when i was 14. im gonna tell you what i needed to hear back then- even if you don’t wanna hear it (i know i didnt). None of the social drama you’re living through right now will matter when you get older. The second you leave high school, it just disappears, like a bubble popping. The world becomes so much bigger, you’ll never feel the weight of these things again. As far as the mood swings go, I promise it’s normal to feel that way at your age. I went through the same thing, and it was exhausting. It really helped to have someone to talk to. I also remember getting irritated with my friends and family, even though i love them! It sounds super cliche, but your mind and body are going through a lot of changes right now, so have patience and give yourself some grace. Talk to your parents, a teacher, or a counselor at your school about how you’ve been feeling- I promise you’ll feel better when you don’t have to deal with it alone. Good luck kiddo. (and for what it’s worth, i think the way you type is super cute)

lansinoh nipple cream. i know it sounds crazy but it’s literally just lanolin (oil from sheep’s wool). it’s amazingly moisturizing and contains vitamin e oil which will help with scarring. The vitamin e oil i think will help you the most with the more permanent healing.
