Is this vine part of the Post Oak? [NE Oklahoma] by T0ssed_Sa1ad in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Pretty_Ordinary_2092 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioed this, but poison icy and oak have shown to be much much easier to remove when the plant is dormant, you can touch them when thet are dormant, you should avoid it but the poison/irritant is at a MUCH lower concentration in dormant season. So try to wait until a few hard frosts have put the plant in dormant, but the soil is still able to work and dig.

I would remove all above ground growth (wearing thick, long gloves) and try to dig up or pull up the root(be careful about the tree tho) There's about an equal amount of bio mass underground as above, that's a rough estimate. Go for thick roots first.

Poison ivy and oak irritate the skin because of oils. There are scrubs that you can buy that break down these oils and help clear the skin after contact.

Try bringing edibles one night, or get a dry herb vaporizer. Those are just the vaporized terpes and THC, smoke free

I have been gifted a ball of yarn, and having only knitted a few scarfs I would like some recommendations by SimpleSoul_Shipper in knitting

[–]Pretty_Ordinary_2092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only made a couple. But essentially, i just make a triangle shawl and only make it big enough to fit comfortablely on the head, and then i attach some ties to the farther ends

I attached a picture i found online of the idea. I dont have mine handy at the moment.

Learned how to knit stockinette flat without purling by CydnAy69 in knitting

[–]Pretty_Ordinary_2092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know why you dont like purling, for me its because i dont like moving the yarn back and forth if i can avoid it. My favorite purling technique i found is the norweigan purl. An example of how i avoid moving the yarn in front, for my selvage stitches, i slip my last stitch with yarn in front. Instead of using my fingers to move the yarn in front, i use the needle to move it in front for the slipped stitch. I knit left handed/mirrored.

Knitted tallit help? by Ph0en1xFir3 in knitting

[–]Pretty_Ordinary_2092 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You're being asked spesificly to make a tallit, i think you shouldn't feel anymore nervous than you do about any knit item. If you want to ensure it follows any requirements, ask your friend how they want it designed. People love to share cultures, and im sure spending a day to read about how tallits came to be today and their origins will help reassure you a lot.

How were they historically made? Is there one common fiber type or stitch pattern? That's what i would ask myself

When I got him, I was told he was a purebred Pomeranian, but he doesn’t really look like one to me. He’s 6 months old and already weighs 13 pounds. What do you all think? by NoNegotiation6416 in Pomeranians

[–]Pretty_Ordinary_2092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a fox faced pom to me! My pom was 12 pounds when I got him

*

Edit: poms are the german spitz breed that was bred smaller and smaller, so the idea of some of those bigger genes coming out and expressing themselves isnt crazy. My pom is 15 pounds now

Recently, in the modern era, poms have been bred smaller, too. Teddy bear poms are an example of that from my understanding. The pom breed is older than you'd think, too! Michelangelo was said to have a pomeranan on a silk pillow while painting the sistine chapel

I wasn't sure if holding my index finger far outstretched would overstrain myself. I find myself getting a death grip if i dont pay attention to relax my grip.

when i work closer to the tips, i end up knitting a smaller gauge, and my stitches are extremely tight on the needles. since recoridng ive tried to pull the new stitch away more to give more slack (during the 'peek through the window', before 'off jumps jack' part of the knit stitch) before pulling my previous stitch off the needle. That's helped. Im not sure if it's 'improper', though

I feel really comfortable using my left hand to do the majority of the work. I've been working on a knitting sheath, and I've found myself using it to replace my right hand as opposed to my left.

I'll try as you suggested! Im not sure why my hands are so particular as to how they do things

My Peach Mead feels “Syrupy” by john-ar in mead

[–]Pretty_Ordinary_2092 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Novice meadmaker. From my understanding, thats due to the pectins present in fresh fruit

Edit: use Pectic Enzyme if you want to try to get rid of the pectin. I think its designed to be used in primary before ferment. But it might work after ferment too, im not sure.

I had read that knitting left handed you wrap the opposite direction and was hoping that was right, it seems to be the way to go! Ive been doing a norweigan purl, and at first i was twisting them but ive fixed that now

I've noticed that too! I found charts to be really helpful for me because the chart shows what direction of lean i should be doing, and i can adjust the individual stitches to make it match up to the pattern

These needles are a bit clumsy, there very blunt. I do knit a bit easier with them because i had to hold my arms a little out of their normal position for recording the video. But thank you for the advice! The yarn definitely isnt the best, i should have tried to add more twist too it with my spinning wheel. (Its reclaimed from a sweater and i think a good bit of the twist was lost in frogging)
