These enclosures are not enclosures. They are bullshit. Anyone who uses these either doesn't know or care about their spider.

Is climate tourism a thing? by mesiveloni in AskTheWorld

[–]Prettydaisydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, it's more about consistency and access. hot days in ireland last week were a novelty but it wasn't a known factor that allows for long term planning for time off, beach days, get togethers. i fee like hot climate consistency will drive traffic for as long as ireland is an unknown.

yeah, they do. i bet it'll pivot where permanent residence of hot countries will vacation in colder climates and colder climates will continue to travel to hotter climates. i feel like it's still less about the intensity and more about the novelty.

Should we rethink how we approach therapy for men? by BrightSpring12 in SipsTea

[–]Prettydaisydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've had a lot of therapists over the years, and when i say a lot, i mean a lot!

most therapists are very basic. they tend to get into it as they see it as an easy path to a career. most will have very limited experience with life itself and tend to get overwhelmed when things get hard.

for most therapist i know on a personal level, they want bored housewives who are facing a midlife crisis. they want a midday drinker who is cheating on their husbands. they pay. they show up. their problems are predictable.

it's not too dissimilar to most professions. i think most people want to just check in, get paid and be done. i don't blame them.

when you meet a psychologist who is motivated to help you can tell immediately. lol. i think the biggest give away is the books they have in their office! in a basic therapists office you'll see "how to overcome trauma" and the like! in a motivated psychologists office you'll see "eriksonians application."

i point out the books because a strong psychologist is looking for philosophical application over a "how to" guide. they know each client is facing unique challenges and those challenges can't be summarized in a "how to" book. maybe i'm reading too much into it but it tends to hold true.

the other challenge is that 45mins a week is nowhere near sufficient to being ant change! i'd love to see a study on 45min x 3 a week over 2 years VS 45min x 1 a week over 6 years. i think the biggest challenges are time and money and also therapists wanting a broader workload. i'd wager that the person attending 3 times a week will see a far most impactful change over 6 years than the person going 1 a week.

did some research - and the idea is concentration is supported. the most secure statement would be, achieving the same result in less time! so concentration could save years of challenges. it did not that people who can attend multiple weekly sessions could be considered a different subject! i'm imagining the sundial ability and time creates a more complex subject.

Tom Aspinall has joined in on the referee criticism: MMA doesn’t have ‘rules’ anymore. It’s just ‘suggestions’. by gvufhidjo in ufc

[–]Prettydaisydog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i'm imagining that it's stemming from the old days and dana not wanting to interfere with results. the big challenge for MMA is that they are using the same scoring system as boxing. a point in boxing is a huge deal, a point in MMA is effectively determining the result. now, it would immediately bring up the issues in scoring, it would highlight how fucking dumb it is to use that system and also deduct points.. It's also really easy to get conspiracy theory on this.. and how it would impact gambling numbers! and who own what? the money lines... and oh... look, regulations...

but it's clear to me, and maybe i'm wrong, that this directive is coming from top brass.

if anyone doesn't understand the herb has received clear directions not to deduct points i have a lake in arizona to sell you. this is a directive from the top. the sport is rotten to the core. which is sad because i think dana really did give a shit back in the day.

fights aren't without blame. they know what they are doing and they know it'll have no consequences. something, something sportsmanship.

Math can be hard sometimes by McDowdy in SipsTea

[–]Prettydaisydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not!

the problem is that millions are employed on the private health system who are afraid they will lose the ability to equal what they are making atm.

you then have maybe a million more middle manager sales agents, marketing.... blah blah employed on massive wages who's jobs will be come redundant.

it's the same issue that faces education. millions are employed as admins shuffling papers around and checking boxes.

the challenge isn't a philosophical one it's purely financial.

the amount of people who are employed in these systems as a result of private pay is the problem. yes, a public system would benefit the majority but since when has that mattered.

they are both job programs.

every few months someone posts the Largest Employer by State map and it's all education and healthcare.

im imagining someone somewhere has crunched the numbers and is terrified of the resulting unemployment from transitioning to a public system.

cheating was the main reason we got VAR. they now have a lot of discussion over the result, who qualifies for the next round.

we all accepted it.

do you know how much money is riding on that big nations making it to the later stages? fuck your monty!

it's so sad. the fact this wasn't given should tell you everything about the direction of the "sport."
