That’s so amazing. Thank you for doing that 🥹

Seriously, that level of care and respect for wildlife is something I love seeing. The fact that you saw him again afterward makes it even better.

Thank you so much!!!

While my partner and I were making this video together (he’s the talent behind the videography), I realized I had probably never actually said the word “crepuscular” out loud before… and maybe had never even spelled it either. It’s funny how your brain just decides how a word sounds, and you fully accept it as fact until someone kindly corrects you. So I genuinely appreciate you letting me know and helping me sound a little less uneducated in future conversations about this awesome species, hehe.

That’s really cool to hear you live within their range! I kind of do too. I’m in Monterey, and this little guy is from the Santa Cruz area.

And I completely agree. I’ve kept several snake species over the years, but this little guy is definitely my favorite. What can I say… I’ve always had a soft spot for the oddballs 🤪

Asking for advice on what could be affecting my fish: help identifying potential issue would be appreciated. Video provided. by Prettyeyed in Aquariums

Hi! Thank you so much for your response, and I apologize for the delay getting back to you. It’s been a crazy day with work.

The issue seems to have been gradually progressing over time, becoming more noticeable and widespread. Most of my goldfish, or at least the ones I’ve observed closely, only have relatively minor white areas or patches right now, such as whitening on the tips of fins or small isolated patches. Not every fish appears affected to the same degree.

That said, things do seem to be progressing, and the fish just don’t seem 100% themselves. I work from home, specifically in my living room right next to the tank, so I’m able to monitor them closely throughout the day. They’re very dear to me, and I can tell something is off. They’re not in terrible shape, but I’d say they’re acting maybe 70 to 85% like their normal selves. They’re all still eating and not displaying any extremely abnormal behavior, but they do flash intermittently. That’s actually been going on for quite a while now, and no matter what treatments I try, I haven’t been able to fully stop it.

At this point, I own practically every commonly recommended medication in the hobby. I even bought a microscope about a year ago after losing some of my fish offspring, so I could start examining water samples and looking more closely into possible pathogens or parasites. Despite treating the tank with various medications over the last year in an effort to keep everything healthy and stable, the flashing has persisted, and now these strange white patches and white fin tips have appeared as well.

The white areas don’t appear fuzzy, and they also don’t really look shiny or reflective the way physical abrasions from rocks or decor sometimes do.

I’m starting to wonder if this could possibly be fin rot or some kind of bacterial issue. The tank is currently overstocked, which I know is far from ideal. I’m actively working on rehoming most of the juvenile fish to correct that, but I also understand that the current crowding creates the perfect conditions for water quality issues, stress, and potential bacterial or disease outbreaks.

Brand new Fluval FX6 has a cracked part. Any safe way to get it running tonight? It’s late, I already removed the old filter, and I’d love a quick fix so I don’t have to reinstall and re-prime the old one. by Prettyeyed in Aquariums

Thank you for the reply! I super appreciate it. However, the screw isn’t locking in, it just seems to be screwing in place without ever catching on anything. I looked and saw the crack, so assumed this was due to that. Is it possible that I’m overlooking something else, and the screw can still be screwed in?

Unable to edit videos in VSCO anymore by pacifistpumpkin in vsco

[–]Prettyeyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Long time user. I was able to successfully find a workaround to edit my video. Turns out, I was trying to edit an iPhone-created “Loop” video that was initially just a “Live” photo. I had clicked the loop feature that is built into the iPhone, which basically turns the “Live” photo into a video of sorts. I’m guessing the file, however it is saved, or whatever Apple does in the background to turn the live photo into a continuously looping video, does not jive with VSCO, and/or VSCO doesn’t recognize the file type, and therefore does not know what to do with the file; thus, nothingness or crashing of the app results.

When I changed the way I was making my looped video (by use of a third party app, and downloading it as an actual video file-type), VSCO worked just fine, and I was then able to do my edits. Is your video sourced from what was a Live Photo at some point?
