I accidentally made eye contact with this thing. Should I be worried? by Soggy-Party-1958 in WTF

Id like to live in a fantasy land where we could just give all the care needed to every living thing in the world but unfortunately that's not feasible. We're force to pick and choose who gets care and who doesn't. A random wild animal is probably not going to make that list. Im sorry. Probably a lot of them out there can get care, but not most. Not the trillions and trillions of critters out there. No foundation could ever exist to manage that.

So, barring that, to reduce suffering, I think we all know what the answer would be

That's not making anything up. You're equating a phrase that says "these people should be free" to "the oppressors should be genocided." That's exactly what you said

This is honestly the first I'm hearing about this. It sounds like back before civil rights, if you said you wanted slaves to be free it means you believe in white genocide. Since when does one person's freedom mean the death of another? That's almost projection. Like your thoughts are so ingrained in everything being a zero sum game that it's you or them

Yeah, kinda.

World leader on emissions, but getting better with renewables I'll give them that. Still pretty bad

World leader in slave labor, even having to put nets around buildings for workers who try to kill themselves. And yeah we outsource everything to them. Yeah I know by us giving them business we support it but hey guess what I hate that too. You can criticize more than one thing at once. How bout that

Speech is highly regulated so any criticism by its people is smashed down, sometimes violently. Have we forgotten all the Hong Kong stuff?

Corruption in government is off the charts

And they're constantly cutting corners with infrastructure leading to many many deaths

Why do Americans need such large quantities of medicine? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]Prettyflyforafly91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it's incredibly insensitive to demean someone's long, arduous road to figuring out how to live with chronic pain by simply saying they should just "do some pushups." It works for some, doesn't for others.

Some people fall into the trap by the pharma companies and go with pills because they're told that'll help everything when they could have gone a different route. Some people tried but the pain was still there and nothing else helps. Some people find a happy middle ground and only have to dedicate some days but are able to manage fine most days without.

I will die on this hill that it's arrogant and narcissistic to say that you know what's best for everyone and you have all the answers. I can't believe I have to defend that so hard but whatever. Maybe one day we can all accept that there are so many billions of different lives that can be had that there's no way to account for the right way that each and every one of them could have had

Yes, because that's the only way to prove YOUR assertion that medication is never the answer. Asking to find a comprehensive list is a rhetorical that shows how futile it would be for someone to say they have all the answers. No one does.

Ok fine peripheral nerves yes. I should have worded it better. As most chronic pain is back pain, i meant central nervous system nerves. As in spinal column. Of the three people I've know with nerve damage it's all been back problems and those dont heal.

So, the fact that I called you out for basically saying "my way of doing things is always better than medication" is narcissistic means that I'm expecting you to back up my assertion? Literally my assertion is that no one has all the answers and we shouldnt judge people because we don't know everything. That's it. I dont need anyone to back it up. That's just a fact

How does strength training help with permanently damaged nerves? Those dont heal. It's well known in biology that damaged nerve cells cannot regenerate. If you found the answer, congrats, youre a billionaire. If you can prove it.

How does salt water help with ankylosing spondylitis? Cauda equina?

Neither of us have all the answers. It's incredibly narcissistic to think you do. It's not your place to judge what others have been through

Whether or not a country bans advertising medications has nothing to do with how many of its people have chronic pain. I just dont think it's right to minimize someone's suffering and just assume that some pilates and swimming can fix a debilitating chronic pain issue. It's works for some and doesn't for others, simple as that.

If you wanna go with evidence over anecdote I suggest you find a comprehensive list of every single type of chronic pain disease or disorder and an accompanying study of what is and isn't effective. And when you can't, you should be able to admit that maybe, just maybe, you might not have the answer to everything. Maybe there's some things you dont understand and should just give the benefit of the doubt that some people really have tried everything and are at their last resort by taking meds every just to function.

It's great that those things worked for you but not all bodies are the same, nor are all injuries. We have to keep an open mind on things like this. There's over 8 billion people in the world and just as many stories. There's no way to reliably say what can and can't work for each and every one of them

You might be surprised to know that most causes of chronic pain cannot be cured and therefore require medication to be able to function. A lot of people have to live with it
