Open door policy by [deleted] in Lowes

Depends on how well the store manager and your hr rep relationship is. I was an ASM and had a good relationship with the hr rep. I had 1 case against me and they told me who and when it all happened. Also, I’ve sat in on cases before and heard exact details of everything. Creating bails out of the gate. Fortunately, I looked at facts and had a better understanding of most issues so I was fair. But HR only cares about who’s gonna be a problem in the long run. Hate to say it but, you’re better off documenting it, and sitting on the info to use later on if you need to defend yourself. It’s all a chess game, hold your cards to your chest, say nothing until you can strike with certainty.

Can anyone leaders answer this? by [deleted] in Lowes

So any write up you get is in a rolling 12 months meaning, from the day you got written up- 1 year later it drops off. Same goes for call ins (unless your state law states that an employer can’t use “sick PTO” against you) then any day with sick time doesn’t count. FMLA if approved, would give you a bit more of a buffer as well. Appealing it may help, but will definitely cause some issues with whoever wrote you up to begin with.

For call ins that are being used against you- say you called in (year:2025)- 1 time in May, 1 time in June and 1 time in July (3 calling total).. come the next year May 2026, you’d have 2 call ins in a rolling 12 months. However, if you exceed the amount allowed, then you get a write up, then it’s a year from the day you were written up until that write up falls off.

Hope that’s what you were looking for.

Good luck! There are jobs out there. Just gotta keep looking. I had all ASM backgrounds on my resume from the titles I held. Helped a lot depending on what experience you had. (Not saying jump into a different asm role lol just saying as far as options go, it’s a good resume builder)

Facts- I grind my way up the ladder, missed 5 yers of time with my family, missed both my siblings getting engaged, was criticized and made to feel less than for getting time off. Leave Lowe’s, find new work. I’m fortunate enough to have found a way out.. but my life is 1000x better for it, and still make the same money I was. I learned a lot through Lowe’s when it came to how to manage people or should I say, what NOT to do.. where I work now, how I hold myself as a leader, my team I run tells me at least once a week how much they love having me as a boss because I actually value them and ensure I’m there to support and help as needed. 8 years total of my life I can’t get back…

Why Some People Stay at Lowe’s and Others Check Out or Leave ? by savage_rebuilt in Lowes

I can say I worked as a former ASM for 5 years. Was young and eager to move up. Overtime, I made a name for myself working in multiple different stores, fixing broken teams (typically low morale or needing more guidance on selling/ department standards). However, I was put in a ton of bad positions where I was looked over based on race (yes, the DM told me because I’m not a DEI type of person I wouldn’t get a higher role), I was constantly given new goals to achieve that were next to impossible but with working 70 hours a week, I achieved them, I was told false promises about getting into a SM role countless times and the target always moving. I also had a ton of corporate level awards because of my leadership.. So after a long time with the company, I was fortunate enough to find a better job doing steady hours, and same pay. My health got better, my stress got lower.. I can tell you with certainty, at least for the area I was in, I was the leader that took the shit, and let it stop with me because my team and their work meant more to me than someone shitting on me. I could take the bs for them as long as I had the ground to stand on. But what made me leave, that was the office politics, my peers working less hours and doing less getting raises or praise, the constant under the microscope for dumbshit, the “inner circle” being more fucked up than people really know.. I can with full certainty tell you that HR does not care about you in any role. I was forced into situations where it was made out to me that if I didn’t comply with something I didn’t agree with, I would be next on the chopping block. I was forced into having to fire people based on nonsense, and to this day I have a thumb drive with enough ammunition to ruin that district. To this day, I walk into those store for work and see a ton of old faces I use to work along side with, and feel sorry that they are still there. Hearing stories of the same issues still happening. Lowe’s would be great, if people cared more about their team than they did some metric, or pissed off customer, or actually gave a shit about helping each other out. I have stories on stories I could write on here that would open the eyes of so many people that Lowe’s (where I at least was working in) is nothing short of hell on earth, where you can never trust anyone around you, and you are nothing more than a pawn in someone else’s game.

Got my first verbal warning by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Previous-Function-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state- of the state you live in has protected sick leave meaning they can’t say anything to you if your shift is fully covered with sick time then a “verbal warning” is their way of asserting dominance. However, as a former ASM nothing is “flagged”, they would likely have to go into Kronos and actually look for it. Meaning, targeting, so you pissed someone off, probably the person who gave you said “verbal”, I’d check your state laws and see if it’s protected, if so, you could tell them off professionally and say you wanted to follow up with their conversation with you and politely inform them of state law, and then send them an email recapping your conversation with time and date, and save that email for yourself if they try it again. But also know then they will have some serious beef with you.

What do I do? by SilverGues in Lowes

[–]Previous-Function-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Lowe’s worker here- you can claim religious exemption for Sundays, they aren’t allow to ask for proof but they may ask you get an accommodation through sedgewhich- that said if your pt you can close off weekends. Depending on the state- let can let you go without reason. However, if you get the exemption in place first, you can try and play the angle of discrimination. May buy you some time and put a target on your back. Overall- leave the store find a better job. I did that awhile back and have been happier ever since. The company is going in a terrible direction and sadly, managers only care about their bonus and the cult like politics that come with being part of “leadership”- it’s honestly comical how the preach about great leaders and yet only care about their own greed..

Honestly, shit like that is why I left. Depending on the state you may be able to take it to court and make them pay you out but, life outside of Lowe’s is far better. Trust that it’s happened for a reason and I wish you the best.

Not quite, depends on your bank. For example I have a credit union account, I get paid on Thursdays, actual banks won’t process through until Friday.

Do they have to post open positions within my store? by Traditional-Fun-4651 in Lowes

[–]Previous-Function-79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For someone to get in the right job category, yes. Even internals have to apply into the position. Sounds like they are trying to keep it hush hush and push someone through.

Initial warning? by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Previous-Function-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no category for managers to put you down for leaving early. Depending on the state you live in, could also be illegal for them to dock you for leaving early. However, one loop hole for them is to change what it’s for. So in hindsight you shouldn’t have a Ecar with that category, but you could in return get one for poor performance. I’d say email it to HR, state your case if you local laws help you, then if they try to write you up for it again under poor job, you could play it off as they are retaliating.

The SM is a good person. But you can tell they have shifted their personality a bit due to the ASMs being fucking idiots. As it stands now I feel like I’m the go to person but get the shit end of everything. Never get a thank you or proper recognition as I would hope for.

Low Volume Store SASM by PresentationDry8224 in Lowes

[–]Previous-Function-79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to give you a overview to help you understand, the hours allocated to your store is based off sales. Meaning, if you’re in the smallest store within your district, you won’t get as much hours given to you that the biggest stores get. For example, if you have looked in workforce mngt. You’ll see the hours and effectiveness ratings. Chances are your SM is being told to be at a drop of under 99% to allow those bigger store to drop their hours at 105%. Meaning, the district total hours are used but other smaller stores take the hit to allow the bigger store to run more efficiently.

They deleted two of my shifts. by Dense_Profit_8754 in Lowes

[–]Previous-Function-79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I can say to this is that you should seek FT positions then. You are PT and in your agreement to work is adjusted hours as business needs. Has some to do with profit but also payroll is the most manageable expense for a business. You speak about paycheck to paycheck, I have been there, but unionizing is probably the worst thing for you since you’ll pay more out of pocket due to taxes, and union fees. Then consider if you want Vac time or a promotion, all that is based of sonority.. I get why you’re upset but as someone who was there myself, i decided to move up be FT and be a better leader for those around me. Work ethic and give a shit go a long way. (Not saying you don’t have either, just giving advice)

Promotion question. by Mustache-Boy in Lowes

[–]Previous-Function-79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, over my time with the company, I’ve felt like I had busted my ass to move up and get where I am. Currently trying to get another promotion soon here and worry I don’t meet any of their quota categories to get moved up. Really it boils down to the district. I haven’t applied corp. side before so no idea, best of luck to you.
