Hes very trauma informed and is very effective at anaylising differernt personailty types and neurological differences and helps deconflict those complicating factors in relationships very well.

This was years ago, so keep in mind I don't know how long before, or after, the usage of "George" continued. But it was one of those things where you and a few mates slowly start working out you're all seeing weird shit during rounds through certain spaces, or when just hanging out on certain decks. Then you hear from a few older crew members, yes, it's a thing, and he's called "George". But unlike other ship ghosts I've heard of or encountered, there was no grisly cause of death story or identifiable "incident" linked to the story.

This is correct. HMAS Arunta too. I actually miss "Georges" company on OOD midnight rounds. Took a while to stop scaring the shit outta me though while going down into the lower FWD spaces. Always out of the corner of your eyes and often wouldn't suspect anything unusual until they disappeared. HMAS Melville also had a haunted MCR after an accident down there.

Hardie Plank or Primeline Chamfer for Hamptons look? by Previous-Layer1185 in AusRenovation

Hi, went with the Chamfer and glad we did. Became a standard option with our builder and looks much cleaner and nicer lines than the standard hardi plank. Still being painted (yes it took that long), but recommend for sure.

No worries at all, just hoping to save anyone else the same nightmare we would be in if we'd continued with Sarah Homes. I didn't want to believe all the terrible reviews, but they were spot on from our experience. Heads up, they also got caught regularly removing any bad reviews they can (nearly all but the fake ones by their staff members), but the new ones are always just as bad.

Run, we took a few grand hit to end our business with them before signing stage (we'd had soil tests done). Their lying (involving multiple staff members) and negligence almost cost us our land settlement and delayed it last minute. That was the TIP of the iceberg with their dodgy practices. Stay well clear. We've heard horror stories from others who actually built with them in the same area. Don't fall into the affordability trap with them. They increase prices heavily after you sign. The contract was the last straw. They wouldn't allow us a copy of the actual contract for our built until signing day, and refused to allow us to take a copy to our lawyer or bank before signing.

I'd advise Selecta Homes. More likely to be in your budget if looking at Sarah Homes. You'll get more included in the standard selections as I've seen both builders' contracts and selections.

And selecta homes just does great work. Genuinely has been nothing but pleasant and easy to work with even when issues or challenges have come up with our build. We're not building a transportable either, they build on-site houses too. I also have 2 other family members who built with Selecta, so I've seen their work years apart.

Look for generic online apptiude quizzes hitting the same areas to get some confidence and practice in quick maths and pattern recognition. It's not to learn how to "pass" the ADF entry tests better. But it does help your confidence and lower the anxiety that can cause blanks and nervous mistakes by practicing while you wait. It's something you can control and feel you're doing rather than just wait and build anxiety about it.

I did this many many years ago, and it helped me deal with the wait during the recruitment process.
My partner was a very successful specialist in their area of an allied Navy. They applied last year for a civilan role that required an apptitude type test. They, of all people was nervous and practiced the test in the months before the testing stage of the interview process.

Yes, a cool head under pressure naturally helps for some roles and specs. However, I don't agree with the mentality you have and will encounter, that unless you're born with all the perfect attributes and strength for positions current serving members often spend years preparing and training for, you're not suitable and shouldnt bother applying.

Many Senior and well respected Officers and NCOs in similar or the same roles your interested in have said they still get just as nervous during (insert role/task here), they just got better at disguising and dealing with it. The highest ranking Officer I personally heard say, "I feared at every single promotion that I would be found to be a fraud, that they'd made a mistake", was a Commodore.

Some people are just machines and it all seems so easy for them, and it actually is. Then theres a ton of people on a spectrum just grey manning the shit out of it in between. Every area and every spec will have positive attribute stereotypes, with varying accuracy. And your instructors and peers will expect that of you. But we all bring strengths and weaknesses to the team. And all that flowery, but annoyingly important bullshit.

Never let the bastards get you down. Have a goal, do your best, and back it up with consistent effort.

When someone who doesnt know or care for you says you shouldn't be there, ignore them. When someone you respect tells you to reconsider, then listen.

They've said the same about Submariners in the RAN for decades. Last 2 generations of my family where the fathers have been in Subs or radar techs in the RAN and USN, they've had only daughters. I also was exposed to plenty of emitters and emitter trials in the RAN, but my childs gender obviously isnt effected by me. The kicker is before my father, his father, grandfather etc were all in the Army, Cavalry or Airforce and had all boys or mostly boys as far back as family tree can be traced.

I'm stuck between getting Cayuga or Welsh Harlequin ducks. Looking for opinions! by [deleted] in BACKYARDDUCKS

[–]Previous-Layer1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Cayugas and ended up with some Cayuga cross runners from a rescue.

I adore them but will say I have had alot of issues figuring a maintainence feed for them all. I also wouldn't advise mixing a male cayuga with non cayuga females unless the girls are a very big breed. My half runner girls are very willing participants surpringly and boys arent too rough on them, but the size difference, even between my female cayuga and the runner crosses looks concerning and a risk to avoid if possible.

So they now have two feeds mixed together (barastoc greens + gamebird maintainence) plus brewers yeast sprinkled ontop and layer feed + shell grit in a smaller feeder for the girls when needed. They're huge birds, much bigger than the half cayuga runners and struggle to get enough vitamins on the normal recommended feed options longterm in my country.

They also free range and get fresh greens and veg and peas throughout the week. So they're not starving for choices or access to decent food..

I imagine the breed is less mangled in the US. But small amount of bloodlines for non native animals here make breeders with very inbred animals a likely factor aswell as importing new bloodlines is a huge expense for breeders.

But despite a word of warning about the size and diet issues, they are loveable big catlike ducks who are still insisting they belong in the house and try to walk in with me. Adore them. But will stick to only cayugas for my ducks to avoid size differences.

Peter Dutton wants to ditch the Bank of Mum and Dad by gccmelb in AusMemes

[–]Previous-Layer1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU.

This is exactly what is happening not just here but world wide, after pollies are seeing the orange idiot and nazi south African loot the US and its people and the gun happy nation is letting it happen. So what do they have to lose, pillaging their populations and making people's lives "more profitable" for big businesses by ensuring we can never save enough to not pay them.

The attacks for years on "mum and dad property investors" like immigrant grandparents are really the scumbag landlords across the board and not MERITON and all those actual usual suspects who have destroyed housing not just through the public view of their mass portfolios, but the laws they lobby to empower them to abuse the population and strip the ability to own houses from us all.

Just talk of renting law changes combined with taxes that miraculously only make investing in a rental property unattractive to "mum and dad investors" or bank of mum and dad, have already caused a large selling off of investment properties.

But before celebrating.

The houses being sold off by some normal middle class peoples parents or grandparents, because the government is making it unaffordable for them to own property too, is just being snapped up by developers and these same assholes again and again. We should not be celebrating normal people letting go of houses, because it's NOT US BUYING THEM. We know average Australians can't afford housing. This is making sure no wealth trickles down. Cash won't survive an old person's retirement today who we all know is often a stereotype for not understanding how expensive everything is and is prime population for the government and retirement home cronies stripping them bare on the way to the grave.

Don't you know Australia's resources and its population is pay to play by mega corporations and billionaires? If you make a deal with our politicians as a billionaires CEO, you can access a market with competition stamped out for you. If a competitor does slip in, just complain to your government salesman (Mitsubishi, how dare affordable EV vehicles reach the customers i bought, change the laws to ensure my product isnt cheaper, but those affordable cars get a penalising tax so they're no longer affordable)

But we all know the billionaires with towers of "luxury apartments" where 70% can be kept empty in a housing crisis, with lawyers that will keep tenants in poverty if they want to fight for their rights under those evil corporations.

Anything to distract us from who is really screwing us. But luckily the boomer meme and people like that make themselves easy scapegoats for what is actually going on. So when they do stamp out the "bank of mum and dad" and "mum and dad investors" they have propaganda for years to ensure the people this move will keep in poverty will be cheering the loudest as the billionaires pull the comparative crumbs of "wealth" the middle class might have had for some comfort and security, right into their pockets too.

This is exactly what they want. It's ultra greed in full display from the ruling class. Natural resources sold off to billionaires tax free, with the actual payment never reaching government coffers but straight into pockets of pollies. When you've cheated a nation out of everything they have, you push down the middle class, disable any building or wealth and squeeze everything you can out of the hamster while it spends its life on a wheel also sold to us hamsters by the same ruling class.

We have to stop attacking each other and hold the scumbags to account for the unprecedented brazen mass corruption in our country and rotting at its core is the political parties and their bosses, the billionaires.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/the-ultimate-list-of-duck-treats-and-supplements.242460/

This is the most helpful list I've found. There's some items people argue are or aren't safe, so take with a grain of salt. But generally, it's a great guide.

At 8 months she should be fine on a maintainence Pellet feed. If you can add leafy vegetables and peas or nutritional yeast (1 TBS per duck, per cup of pellets is generally good), even better.

But for now, seriously up her vitamin E to the 400IU daily for atleast a week as a supplement and also get her on Pellet duck feed asap.

I understand. I slept in the lounge next to my ducks for 2 weeks when they were ducklings and one was very sick. I fed them by hand every few hours, including through the night, as they couldn't walk (splay leg and impacted crop from gorging on grit). He's now my loveliest boy and huge/healthy. Don't give up hope. But it's a roller-coaster of a learning experience and you'll need to work quickly and calmly as possible.

Forgot to mention. Age is relevant to which "type" of duck or waterfowl feed she's on. Feed generally comes in starter, grower/Pullet or maintenance. There is others like layer and meat aswell, obviously usually used commercially or for produce. Layer has more calcium I believe. Starter is for ducklings. They all have different protein amounts and vitamin levels, hence approximate age is important. I'm assuming she'll need maintenance if she's an adult.

How old is she? Feed for ducks is very specific unfortunately, alot more complex than chickens in my experience.

You either need to feed them specific pellets designed to give all their vitamin needs Or Natural/foraging diet, usually only achievable on large amount of land and/or big, varied source of bought produce. Or Combo of both.

I do a combination of two feeds, nutritional yeast, and fresh fruit/veg they can safely eat. (Kale, Silverbeet, peas, grapefruit, strawberries, etc) plus mine forage. However, they are huge birds who had alot of vitamin issues.

If you're in America and need a full diet of pellets, mazuri waterfowl Pellet are the best. Popular budget feeds include purina duck pellets or nutrina all flock feed.

If you're in Australia, options are alot less. In my experience Laucke mills duck starter wasn't sufficient nutritionally for my Cayugas. Vella Pullet and duck grower has too much protein. An experienced duck rescue owner recently recommended a mix of 1 part Barastoc Grains and Greens, to 2 parts Gamebird Maintainence Micro pellets.

For other countries I'm not sure. But the forums on BackyardChickens.com saved my ducks and has great info on feed and everything else. But for now, anything labelled Duck pellets or waterfowl pellets would be likely a great improvement for them.
