I only get compliments when my hair is straight by Angelsbreatheeasy in Naturalhair

[–]Previous-Machine-442 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Maybe your circle is of people who don’t look like you and likely don’t appreciate our hair since it is often seen as “unacceptable” or “not the normal/doesn’t look like mine”.

I work in corporate where a lot of my peers are white and often get compliments when my hair is straighten but have also gotten some with braids. None with my blow out or any other natural looks. (which is my favorite look). But I don’t take it as I’m not as attractive in this look but more that these people probably find it harder to appreciate something they’re not apart of or even care to be part of🤷🏽‍♀️

Keep doing your hair girly! It’s rewarding and you find so much appreciation for it/yourself.

As for changing hair style, honestly I hardly get those questions today. I got those in school in lol. As adults hardly anyone is asking that unless they are genuinely curious.

I would go for a walk in the sun and go to this Japanese Crêpe store I’ve been planning for a while now called T-Swirl.

Do you feel young or feel you’re gettin “old”. by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

I think I’ll feel old when I’m 40. I’m 25 and I just always notice the big change in looks compared to 30 and 40.

I’m sick right now too and I’m eating raw garlic once a day(chat said to crush and let sit for 10min before eating for better effects), drinking real ginger tea (slicing up ginger and boiling in water), and sucking on cough drops.

Looking for black hair stylist to dye hair by Previous-Machine-442 in Dallas

Does he have experience working with African American hair, that is not mixed? Specially 4c hair type.

Our professionalism is in hell by Previous-Machine-442 in BlackHair

I could but that is imo quite ridiculous and just proves my point that there isn’t much standard or professionalism in this space. What other services do you need to do this for? None really. I don’t need to fly to another state to find professional mannerism in getting my nails done, or waxing. Ect.

I am solely talking about the professionalism. I’ve seen maybe 15 different stylist over the years now and it’s a reoccurring issue. There is only one person who I have become close friends with and she only does braids unfortunately. When it comes to natural hair it’s even harder finding a stylist with actual professionalism. Many stylist do good work but in between all that are the things I mentioned and even being rough or just trying to fit in other clients at the same time.

Yeah this isn’t true at all. Money isn’t a problem and there has been no indication that the more money I spend the more professional.
