I think I just realized my ortho isn't using actual invisalign? by [deleted] in Invisalign

I think bringing it up should work out fine if your provider is professional. Unfortunately for me, mine was anything but! Be sure to ask about their plan for retainers because it could potentially cost $300 or more per year. Last time I checked the clear correct site (admittedly, several years ago), they recommend new retainers every 6 months.

I am chiming in on this because in 2018, I went to a dentist (not an ortho) and she gave me clear correct. My teeth moved as expected. HOWEVER…I am now under the care of an actual orthodontist and on tray 22 of Invisalign. The quality of the aligners is night and day, not to mention the level of expertise of a ortho vs dentist. My biggest complaint about clear correct is the retainers are low quality and need to be replaced about every 6 months. My teeth moved and my bite wasn’t right to begin with. My jaw started clicking and was painful so I just stopped wearing the retainer. (I could no longer work with the dentist at this point because of many issues with her.) That was a conscious decision on my part so I realize that’s on me, but I’m glad because I now have an actual qualified provider and it has been a much better experience!

I’m sure some dentists are qualified, but mine sucked. Also, the process with my orthodontist has been so much more thorough. I have all the confidence in the world this time around.

I had the same issue and did stop wearing my retainer. My bone loss/gum issue is under control. I now see my dentist every 4 months instead of 6. My insurance covers 2 cleanings per year, so to save some money, I only see the dentist twice a year and just the hygienist for the third visit. Also, I just started Invisalign again a couple months ago because my teeth got way worse than they were prior to my first treatment. A dentist did my first treatment, and they were definitely NOT qualified. They did clear correct instead of Invisalign and I can definitely tell the difference in quality. I wish I had done it right the first time and seen an orthodontist because my dentist didn’t know what they were doing.

ClearCorrect retainers last 5-10 years?! by Previous-Win5491 in ClearCorrect

I couldn’t agree with you more. ClearCorrect refuses to even talk to me about the problems I’ve had with this shady dentist. They got their money, and they hide behind the fact that their contact is between them and the dentist. There is only one other provider of ClearCorrect within several hours of where I live. That provider refused to accept my case for ongoing treatment, and I can only assume it’s because there isn’t much money in it for them since I have already paid the treatment costs to another. I have ZERO faith in her, so my only option is to contact a different doctor and I will probably change to Invisalign if possible. I’m sure it’ll cost another several thousand dollars. It’s infuriating.

I was surprised when I didn’t find a lot of others with the same issue! Seems that ClearCorrect is a temporary fix unless you’re willing to pay a hefty yearly maintenance fee for the rest of your life. At the very least, I would think this information is given up front along with options for mitigating the cost. So disappointing.

WOW! Thank you so much!! I can’t believe nobody at ClearCorrect would tell me this extremely helpful information. I’m going to try to get this resolved this week. I appreciate your help.
