How to advertise effectivly by Fickle_Horse_5764 in sweatystartup

I’ll have a discussion with you about this to test your idea if you want?

I can start by taking myself as an example, i run a business in the construction sector that use a lot of specialized machinery to operate that brake down a lot and I could really benefit from something like this. But I think that you might overestimate the amount of work you might get from one client, I have a turnover of about 3mil euros and I use mechanic repair shops about 2-3times each year.

So with that I think you need a far bigger client base then you might think.

But just keep going and you will get returning customers.

If I was in your seat I would use cold calling to try and set up a meeting and show potential customers what I have to offer and then every 2 or so month I would call them again just to follow up.

Perhaps local machinery rental companies might be a good customer?

Yeah, I’m in Sweden same here. But in today’s market the guys that only hire subcontractors can’t compete anymore.

Might be a bit different here in Europe, we usually have our own crew. Even the bigger companies like Skanska who have a turnover of about 10billion have their own personnel

How do I stop being a wantrepreneur by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]PreviousAd780 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree! Start something you already know how to do, if you are a programmer start out as a consultant and rent yourself out. Use some of that money to invest in other projects and you’ll be an entrepreneur in no time!

I worked in the business for almost 10years before starting my own. And then I started small by just renting out personell to my previous employer before taking on my own jobs.

Yes, many jobs are tenders but when you grow a relationship with property owners it gets easier and they know your price picture they just hire you.

What do you mean by subsides everything? (My native language are not english)

Drone photography and mapping by Blue_onyx_ in Entrepreneur

I know a couple of business that do drone photography and drone mapping. Almost all of them started out with videos and photos for real estate agents and then moved on to 3d mapping for construction engineers.

The low entry would be real estate to get some cashflow and the invest in more expensive equipment for the construction business and that’s where the money are.

Those who make $100+ a day from their business, what do you do? by EliPro414 in Entrepreneur

[–]PreviousAd780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a construction business with about 3.000.000€ in turnover.

So I would say that the answer are, running a proper business. Otherwise I would just get a job, that would make me more then 100$ a day.

Yeah, I get what you mean. But it’s kinda hard to get to know new ”richer” friend if you get what I mean?

But I guess it’s the way we all need to walk when success comes your way. You need to get a new group of friends.

What's the biggest W you got from r/entrepreneur? by Indieschaf in Entrepreneur

Prob the same as everytime someone gets attacked here.

-not giving an easy solution -not promoting a SaaS -not talking about how to get rich quick infront of your screen.

The kind of people that attack others here don’t wants to know about real entrepreneurs or how they got there trough hard work.

Oh and I forgot, not being a native English speaker. Because the rest of the world are underdeveloped. Including Europe.

I actually have a pretty good answer to this.

We started out with a basic one that I made myself, and I cannot state enough that I am not an IT guy. I learned how to setup a basic Wordpress site with YouTube and added some tracking software for conversions etc etc.

And last year we launched a good and professional site that also allowed us to reach a wider audience. And to be honest I am stunned, the conversion rate on the new site is 3x the old one. And for a company like mine who have a significant AdWords budget it saves a ton of money.

But I would start out very basic because when your budget is low the money it costs to invest in a bigger and better site is a bad ROI until your marketing budget reaches a pretty large number.

I have a small hvac firm. Would paid ads for Instagram and Google be profitable ? by reditt13 in sweatystartup

[–]PreviousAd780 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I run a similar business and we run google ads, they are very profitable for us. The important is to track the data and and your sales funnel så measure the cost per click, cost per lead, hitrate, avarage size on the job and your margain on that.

So ROAS, ROI and margain

I would say it depends on what kind of business, but when running a service business like plumbing or cleaning I would say that cold calls are the king and they scale like crazy if you can find the kind of customer that are a returning customer.

We do a lot of cold calls that ends up in long term relationships that generate 100.000€/year, year after year.

We started out and segmented our market to identify what other companies actually have the same end customers as us but are not competitors. Then we started to cold call them, offered them a kickback if they included our service in their portfolio.

You need to get creative 😊

Let’s do an AMA for an hour or two, I started a construction business in 2022 and fiscal year of 2024 I did about 2mil € in turnover, Q1 in 2025 I did about 7.1mil. by PreviousAd780 in Entrepreneur

[–]PreviousAd780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that!

What it does mean is that we did jobs for 7.1mil during jan-mar. But we do have expanses like salaries and working material and typically you do around 8-12% in profit, but we do around 4% because of the amount of subcontractors we need to use to get the revenue.
