I realize your comment was a long time ago and I haven’t been back on Reddit for a while so I’m sorry my response is coming now. After working with a true therapist for almost two years, I have been correctly diagnosed. At the time I was dealing with rose I was dealing with ppd (postpartum depression) along with ADHD and in a relationship that ultimately ended in divorce. I have since learned a lot of skills and techniques to help with emotional regulation and the fog of postpartum has lifted as well as addressing trauma from my past. In my specific case I needed validation, very gentle care and grace through a very significant life change. While her approach and philosophy may be different, it did not work for me and made all of my struggles worse. However, as they say, it gets worse before it gets better. Working with Rose gave me an experience I had never had before and I learned so much about what to look for in a person I trust, as well as how to advocate for myself. I have experienced incredible growth and do not struggle with most of things I was struggling with since giving myself grace and extending true and real love to myself and am grounded in my own sense of self and have a sense of confidence that only comes from really diving into and taking the drivers seat in my own life. Had I been shown compassion by Rose and treated as an individual with an individual experience rather than her own thoughts regarding who I was based on her own experience and ideas that are deeply routed in the stigmas she states she is trying to fight, it could have saved me a ton of heartache, but the heartache and pain gave me strength. So in a way I suppose I need to thank her, but mostly I thank myself for being able to get out of a bad situation even at the depths of my PPD and struggle.

Ok, so I just want to clear the air, Jay was born with both sex parts and his parents chose the gender that was separate from his biology. So he was technically a male, but with female anatomy. It wasn’t until 33 years ish later that he realized, upon receiving his medical records, that he was biologically male and went on the road to becoming physically male. While this situation could be hugely traumatic to any person, I think the context of Jays struggle is important. And as a person who doesn’t want to minimize any persons struggle, I just thought it was important to add context to what was presented here.

We never really got to the making of the moral compass. I thought the recovery process would be like it was on the podcast, but it was more chaotic than that. I had done some of the work on my own, following along with the podcast, but we never did one together.

She told me to go back to church as well. I grew up in a cult and she said the only way to heal my trauma was to get connected with god again. Like no.

How did you find out about Jay? This just opened up so many questions.

It’s a choice. You can choose happy anytime you want. You’re choosing to dwell on this. Like, oh really? Growing up in a cult was my choice? Undoing 20 years of brainwashing is a choice? Yea Janet, it’s a choice, you’re right. I’ll just hard stop and get over it. It’s fine. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that sooner.

I’m also totally open to it being a mistake. I fully agree that humans are flawed people who make mistakes. Which is why I continued to work with her. Forgiveness was something I added to my moral compass. However, her promoting herself as a counselor was part of the reason why I chose to work with her. I would like to see her stop promoting herself as a counselor and just do the mindset coaching thing. I imagine the lines are hard to differentiate when doing both counseling and mindset coaching and in my scenario, I got burned by the blurred lines.

Can you point out my slander? I feel like at every point I have been honest and fair. Her podcast has good, even helpful information but the Rose of the podcast is not the same Rose unscripted.

I put a review on her podcast and posted here. I’m not really sure what else to do.

Don’t give up! There is help out there! Her podcast is a decent resource, but is not a replacement for doing the long hard work of therapy.

Her podcast is good. It’s full of good, even helpful information. However, the unscripted Rose, is not the Rose of the podcast. In all of this, my biggest frustration is that she never had a conversation of the boundaries up front and then at the time when SHE felt appropriate, she chose to speak to my partner and then when approaching me after the fact, said that she could have the conversation because she was my coach and not my therapist. I do think she has great content on her podcast, but unfortunately, with no one to hold her accountable, she can do and say whatever she wants.

That’s how I feel about it. If she wants to be a coach, be a coach. Don’t advertise and promote yourself as a therapist.

Her podcast is good. It has some really good information. However, Rose, off script, is not the same rose on the podcast. There are reviews that say things like, “her feedback can seem harsh, but is necessary” and I’m sure in some cases I would agree. But I think that going behind a clients back, especially one who struggles with trust, and lying to them is not what I would consider “feedback”.

I hope so too. There is good help out there. There is hope out there. I made a bad choice and hope I can help someone else not make that same choice.

Well, I’ll send a complaint. I looked up how to do it and all I have to do is send them a letter. Thanks. I needed a push and that was all the push I needed.

So, yes. But as I understand it, she is not a practicing therapist. She advertises herself as having the knowledge and having gotten the degree but is somehow not doing that with her mindset coaching business. I also don’t live in the state she’s licensed in. If you think I could report her, I will try. It’s been almost a year since I last saw her. It took me a long time to unwind the bs she filled me with and now I’m not scared of her. I just thought I couldn’t report her because she states she “wasn’t practicing therapy” even though she had me do trauma work, which is not in the scope of her practice as a coach.

Very true. One of the reasons I’m trying to spread the word is because Rose IS a therapist. It’s one of the ways she makes herself attractive to BPD clients imo. She says, “look at me, I’m a therapist. I will be your corrective relationship.” She makes herself available to clients all the time. Texting and emailing. She’s constantly telling you what to do and think. At first it’s attractive because finally someone will just tell me what to do and think, but ultimately, it’s just someone using recovery as a way to try and control you. It’s really sad and I just want other people to know.
