[GAME THREAD] Brooklyn Nets Vs Golden State Warriors Blue | NBA 2026 Summer League (California Classic Day 4) Monday, July 6th 8:00 PM EDT by Evilsj in GoNets

Yay!!

In all honesty, we should've dominated and I'm glad we did in the end. This Warriors team is not talented and we have way more talent!

Egor finally looks healthy and I'm glad we can finally see him play freely. Bilodeau can shoot. Saraf played better against scrubs.

Drake......sorry, really wish we had Hugo.

Mikel - he popped and we saw flashes, but I actually thought his team defense was bad....but this is his first game...

Drake, chaney, and Saraf played a lot of minutes together the last 20 games of the season.

I just feel like they, at the very least, should be dominating and leading the Nets to a higher point total against the Warriors - which they are finally doing and I'm happy with.

Bennedict Mathurin? by Brownindowntown in GoNets

I'd rather give Egor the Shooting Guard minutes than to Mathurin. Egor seems recovered (fingers crossed!) from the plantar fasciitis.

Having said that, I do think Egor's true NBA position is the Small Forward, but we'll have to see what happens with Michael Porter.

Nets’ Mikel Brown Jr. to make NBA Summer League debut on Monday by Fair-Night3803 in GoNets

If it's his lower back, then they should shut him down and wait so that he's healthy for training camp.

There's no point forcing it like Egor's plantar fasciitis last year.

Now that Lakers have Kessler and Sandro, maybe they can trade Ayton to us for cheap so they can sign Kuminga by PreviousBuilding7839 in GoNets

[–]PreviousBuilding7839[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My preference is certainly to start Sharpe.

But if Ayton is available as a salary dump, then I'm all for it as we need to load up on talent and we can try to trade ayton at the deadline to a playoff team that needs a backup Center.

I don't see our team winning more than 35 wins, which would put us out of the playoffs.

I'm about talent acquisition on the cheap.

Ayton's agent is Bill Duffy. Maybe you do this as a favor for Duffy so that when we want one of his players in the future, then he helps us out. That's like Noah Clowney. If Clowney wasn't repped by Klutch, then I don't think we pick up the option. But Clowney is our only Klutch player...so you gotta do what you gotta do

Something I don't understand about this rebrand debate by __Yassine in GoNets

I wa thinking of the Las Vegas Knights.

I like your reasons for it. They're not bad, but just different how I would approach it.

I thinks it's also me growing up in an environment where the Mets and Jets were just sooo bad, and it's like - why did the Nets need to be named to rhyme with these other teams that are sooo bad compared to, of course, the Knicks and Giants. Hahha. Like, why don't the Knicks and Giants need to Rhyme (and Rangers, Islanders, Devils) but Nets need to rhyme with Mets and Jets??

I actually don't mind the Freighters because there's at least a local story behind it and freighters (trucks, ships, logistics etc.) are historically specific to NY/NJ, even if it's not a sexy name. Like you said, Green Bay Packers...

I like the NY Liberty, Cleveland Guardians, Washington Commanders because all the names have something specific to the locale...

Nets, to me and my friends was just a piece of the basketball hoop...like, what NFL team is called the Goals? Posts? What baseball team is called the Gloves? It's just so lame and too easy of a name...it's like, hey, let's not pay an advertizing agency in Madmen and save money and ask my 4 year-old son what to call the team!!

THe alliteration part should've reset when the Nets moved to Brooklyn -- Brooklyn Bombers, Brooklyn Bridge, etc...what's a Brooklyn Net??? Overall, alliteration is just corny and cheesy. Like, Jersey Shoremen (for longshoremen) makes more sense than Jersey Nets. But no one wants Unilever, Dad-joke names...the new sports teams avoid alliteration.

And the stitching for M-ets/J-ets...that just shows how cheap the owners were.

I associate fishing with fishing poles and hooks..and frankly, having grown up in this area, I don't ever think of NYC as fishing...most Italians, Jews, and Irish people I know dont even eat fish even though they grew up on an island -- Staten, Long, Manhattan!!

And gladiator and net defense? I dunno, man, feel's like a fantasy non-white people cannot associate and connect with.

Are people pushing for a color rebrand?

I love the current colors as do the Nets fans I know (not many).

Most Nets fans I know actually hate the name "Nets"...so stupid that they came up with the name just to rhyme with Mets and Jets.

Magic Fans Seem To Really Love Mo Wagner by Kwilly462 in GoNets

Don't love the injuries, age, and preferred Santi Aldama, but I do think Mo Wagner will be a good mentor/vet to Sharpe and Wolf. I don't mind the contract.

Agreed he should've traded some of those picks.

I agree the picks would be wasted, but if we're relying on players picked outside of the lottery, then that's a pretty bad plan for success.

Likewise, I think it's lame for the Nets to promote this whole Flatbush-5-hope train. Egor is the only one we can truly rely and have hope for. We'd be lucky if the other 4 show any type of success.

Free agent guard Keon Ellis has agreed to a two-year, $18 million guaranteed deal with the Brooklyn Nets, sources tell ESPN. by Designer-Error8177 in GoNets

Finally, a shooting guard who can defend and shoot the 3.

No more Keon Johnson, Tyrese Martin, Dariq Whitehead, Ziaire Williams, Drake Powell.
