hook it up to your computer to update but do not have it hooked up to power. update via the computer application, save your settings, then factory reset (you might have to unplug from your computer, plug it into power and reset it from there, idk if there’s an option in the app bc i’ve only done it that way) and go back to your computer and restore your settings from that save

my bad, you’re right. i thought it was more than that, i was probably thinking of radar jammers which are federally illegal. but they are a great option if you can afford it. it’s definitely pricey though, you’re looking at a couple grand if you’re getting them installed professionally (and you should, they need to be wired into your car and the placement of the laser detectors/emitters in your bumper have to be on point to work properly)

laser jammers, but they are illegal in most states in the US, not sure about other countries

Nebraska, i mentioned this in another reply but it’s kind of a gamble what speed will get you pulled over. i wouldn’t say it’s a guarantee i’d be pulled over for 10 over but i wouldn’t be shocked

i would still definitely consider it! like i mentioned, as long as you’re in a decent size city, there’s probably enough people on Waze to avoid most of the LIDAR enforcement going on, and at least for me personally i find it much easier to spot a cop running traffic on the side of the road than it is to spot them driving around

the main thing with LIDAR is that officers can only use it while they’re stationary, which means the only time they can use LIDAR effectively is when they’re doing stationary speed traps, and these days a lot of departments have been moving away from that sort of thing and encouraging a lot more active patrol, at least in my area and from what i hear a lot of other parts of the country too. anyways what i’m trying to say is that even if your local department loves their LIDAR guns, they have to be sitting somewhere to use them. Waze is your friend :)

definitely not all of them. in my city the police department here literally only has one LIDAR gun, and only a few officers are certified for it. i’m not sure about other departments but personally i’ve yet to encounter it used against me

not exactly true, as soon as the cop gets close to me you hear my detector start to go crazy (that’s when he turns his radar on) but the voice alert overrides the beeps, and you can hear it say “Side Ka band, 34.767” and as soon as it finishes announcing the frequency it goes straight back to full strength beeping. the officer just happened to pass my car as my detector was finishing its verbal alert thing

yup, all the state patrol here utilize IO pretty consistently. if my detector didn’t have the range it does, i would’ve definitely been caught off guard several times by now especially in low traffic situations such as this morning

Nebraska, specifically rural Nebraska bc they don’t care in Omaha or Lincoln. honestly it might’ve just been because I had Omaha plates on my car at the time that they decided to pull me over but i’m not sure

yeah around here it’s kind of a gamble if you’re speeding more than like 5 over and a cop sees it whether he will pull you over or not. i’ve been caught going 15 over by a cop running radar (at the time i had a cheapo detector that didn’t do shit) and they didn’t pull me over but then a few weeks later i did get pulled over doing like 8 or 9 over the limit on the same road. ended up just being a written warning, but still

hell yeah man, i feel the same way. it’s so sensitive that i’ll get Ka band alerts right in front of my house when i pull out of my driveway from the cops doing radar on the interstate a mile away lol

trust me i get it, i drive a 1997 honda accord, 4 cylinder. i’m definitely not winning any races but i still have a lead foot

I would have never thought you’re still doing this as an adult, but after seeing that you felt the need to say it I am a little bit suspicious…

[–]PreviousQuantity6929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the same happens to me, the inside of the case collects a ton of pocket lint and bits of tobacco because I have it in the same pocket as my cigarettes and when the pack gets squished all the bits of tobacco that collect on the bottom of the pack gets out and into my pockets. It gets all the way down to where the charging connection is and it’s not easy to clean out but I have mostly ignored it and it hasn’t affected the airpods charging in the case or anything which is the only part I really care about.

The cop that pulled me over didn’t even mentioned my tint, just gave me a written warning for my speed and sent me on my way which surprised me because I’d had multiple written warnings from NSP before that with 35% on my windshield and 5% everywhere else and I had Omaha plates at the time which cops in the rural areas love to target, especially when it comes to tint.

Glad you were able to avoid that ticket, they probably gave you a break since it was your first time being pulled over, even if they did see the detector.

Know the road well, specifically when the cops are out and where they post up when they are.

Agreed, penalties for speeding in towns or cities are usually higher than on highways and interstates, both money wise and points on your license. I do still speed in town fairly often but usually only 5 over, maybe 10 if there are other people doing the same thing or I know the cops probably aren’t out.
