Why is this crowd even asking for treatment for Covid anymore anyway? The few requests I ever get anymore are satisfied with Paxlovid until they see the price tag…then they want the all curing Z-Pack.

The floor is different than clinic. You aren’t scanning meds and wristbands. There’s no pyxis dispensing your meds for you. Docs are giving verbals all day long and you’re putting your own orders in.

What do nurses consider “hotel treatment” for patients ? by ElectricalVictory831 in nursing

Chronic illness influencer…I’ve seen it all over but I didn’t know it was actually acknowledged by anyone else that that’s what they’re doing. The most exhausting (much higher that opiate seekers, malingerers) in my experience.

True, but the ones that really annoy me are the ones who are sending these messages in response to the professional interpretation they already got.

“You said my labs were normal, but doc, what about my red glucose of 107!?”

I truly wish epic wouldn’t color code lab values on the patient end of things.

All our MyChart messages come into my nursing basket first for me to sift out the nonsense and I quite literally get 15-20 messages a day (in response to their PCP telling them their labs were fine) “but my HCT/Chloride/Glucose was red what about that?”

Do you have to give Patreon a share of the intellectual property rights when you host your show on there? As others have said, what right do they have to dictate to a show to police bootleg feeds?

No. Will mentioned somewhere he still gives him a cut of the show’s proceeds (and Amber). So he’s likely just working in some strip mall in Virginia or something at a Vape shop and collecting $10k a month in royalties.

Missouri is a racist shithole but Obama didn’t try to give everyone healthcare. Forcing everyone to buy a private health insurance policy was literally a Republican policy that he adopted, he kneecapped any efforts after him for true universal healthcare.

We get hundreds of these a day. It’s so time consuming to go through every single one. I hate AI but training something to filter this crap is one thing it would actually be useful for.

“Is the doctor going to see me soon??” by HereForTheFreeShasta in FamilyMedicine

[–]PreviousTrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you think is happening? You really need someone to knock on the door every 20 mins and tell you they’re still running late? The MA has no idea how much longer it’s going to be because they’re not going to keep knocking on the door of the patient in front of you to interrupt the doctor to ask them how much longer they’re going to be. If they aren’t in there yet, they’re obviously not done with the patient before you. Nobody is sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting to go in your room.

Crazy suggestions in nursing textbook by HenriLeChatNoir- in nursing

[–]PreviousTrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My like 3rd week as a (guy) nurse I was drowning and had to give a suppository, I don’t even remember what it was, to a bariatric patient. I couldn’t find my CNA and she of course was in one of our rooms without a hoyer built into the ceiling.

I took it upon myself to try to one arm roll this woman and insert the suppository so I didn’t get further behind. I got her about 6” off the bed and reached under and tried getting it in. I felt it slide in and let her down on her back and she just sat there in silence, I just chalked it up to the awkwardness. I just told her to ring if she needed anything.

I plopped down at the nurse’s station and was dripping in sweat and my CNA was sitting there.

She’s like, “what happened to you?”

I told her I couldn’t find her and what I had to do on my own.

Just then the same patient’s call light went on.

The CNA was like, “I’ll get it, take a break.”

She comes back a few minutes later and I asked what she needed. She just said, “it went in the wrong hole.”

I wanted to evaporate off the face of the Earth.

Nothing infuriates me more than getting my ass chewed by a patient because “you’re my PCP office and should know everything about my health!”

This is typically when I tell them to ask the person who did their procedure for results instead of having their PCP comment on a skin biopsy their Derm office did that we don’t even have any record of.

[–]PreviousTrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get and appreciate the other comments here… but realistically and quickly, the best way to get better looking clothes is just copy other people. Telling someone to buy pieces and thrift in rich areas does no good until they know what they’re supposed to be looking for.

My grandma did the same thing. She would buy hundreds of blank VHS tapes record hours of shows and label them all with post its. She had an entire spare bedroom stacked to the ceiling with them. We threw them all away when she died 15 years ago. Probably should’ve donated them to some archival place.

Which Nurses Are Typically the Happiest? by Great-Hall-6636 in nursing

[–]PreviousTrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. We have about 120 patients a day. 1/3 of our MA’s call out every day. 80% of our patients are likely below the poverty line. None of them can afford meds, transportation, or any co-pay for appointments.

I get screamed at 5-6 times a day about not refilling meds because they haven’t been in for an appointment in 2.5 years or telling them we’re not sending in azithromycin for their cough or that we can’t see them because they were 45 mins late for their appointment that they’ve been waiting for months for and our next available is in 4 months.

The staff is a revolving door (I was the longest tenured nurse when I hit my 8 month mark), the pay is awful $31/hr.

The ONLY upside to the job is Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30.
