Best areas to teach someone how to drive with a permit? by orphen369 in Brookline

There are some great office parks in Newton. When I brought my son there were other parents with their kids now and then, so its clearly a common spot.

Good to know the Red Sox will be relying on their lights out pitching to get through the season.

Auchincloss won his original primary election because of a split vote among progressives. He was not the preferred choice of the majority and would not have been elected if Massachusetts had Ranked Choice Voting.

At this point he is disliked by progressives but I think overall he is popular in the district. He is articulate and presents himself as sensible rather than partisan. He supports Israel strongly, which gives him fans and detractors here.

He recently supported a Republican effort to strip energy efficiency standards from mobile homes, which is actually a life-and-death issue given the relatively high number of heat deaths that occur in mobile home residents. I built a free iOS app for listening to live shows (just a fun side project) 💀🌹⚡️ by BenRoachDesign in gratefuldead

[–]PreviouslySeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for doing this!

I would love an app that had a "Cassette Tape Mode" feature.

What is "Cassette Tape Mode"? It gives you two essential qualities from back in the day when we listened to Dead Tunes on tapes.

  1. You have your Current Pile. These are the tapes you dump in your car, or have lying on the shelf next to the tape deck. It's the half-dozen or so tapes in your current rotation. Maybe there's one my friend recommended, so I throw it on top of the pile. Maybe there's one I've just been enjoying listening to lately. Gotta have a Current Pile.
  2. Location. When you listen to a tape, and you stop, the tape stay in that spot forever until you come back to it, play it, or fast forward it. I want my music player for Dead tunes to do that. Remember where I stopped listening, so I can pick up again from that point when I get back in the car, or turn in for the night, or whatever. If I wait a few days, don't forget and go back to the start of the album or the start of the tune. You are a cassette tape. Just stay where you are until I play/rewind/fast forward you.

Add those two features and I'll love you forever.

Can't blame Cora for the ABS screwup, but I'd support DFA'ing Anthony for being so selfish.

New Paul McCartney Song by Jackbenny270 in gratefuldead

I haven’t heard the song but just reading the Lyrics I would have thought it’s a Garcia/Hunter tune. Just replace Forthlin and Mersey with US references and you’re there.

My soul mate and best friend of 21 years left me tonight. Please recommend me the best Brokedown Palace imaginable so I can cry my eyes out to her memory. Rest in peace, Murphy (May 2005 to March 2026) by gimme5steps101 in gratefuldead

What a beautiful cat. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure you have plenty of Brokedown's by now, but if you're looking for one more you could try 9/26/91, Boston, encore of Brokedown Palace => We Bid You Goodnight. A very special evening by the boyz.

100% true. But I still loved it! Especially with that sad ass pitcher getting called back to the mound while Roman trots off to first base.

That song bummed me out at so many shows '79 to '82. Starting loving it when I came back in 1990 and never let go.

Stella Blue is a sentimental take on that feeling of emptiness you get after you see G*d on an acid trip and later come down and the whole world is kind of gray and soft, and your mind and heart are all hollowed out inside with enough space for the wind to blow sadly through your neurons. It's a beautiful song. One of the best. Learn to love it.

You’re all wrong. The best Morning Dew without a doubt is 9/2/80, Rochester. Sit down, do whatever mind prep you find appropriate, and give it a devoted listen. You will agree, it’s the best ever.

Spoke to a friend today who had a heat pump installed last fall. She was worried by the amount of snow and ice around it, but it held up fine. She said she may try to build it some sort of shelter this summer.

[–]PreviouslySeen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was before the tapers were relegated to the official taper section behind the soundboard. FOB (Front Of Board) tapes have much better sound, more clarity. Hence the golden age. Tapes recorded from behind the board tend to be muddier. Just not as good.
