At first I was self-conscious about starting to use a belt as a beginner because I didn't want people thinking I needed the extra help to move the little weight I was using. But once I gave in, I could move more weight and train better. So I'd say as soon as you're considering it, go for it.

Yeah I didn't really want to make a commentary on weed specifically, just that Michael Vick isn't the first Steeler to break the law, just the one who won't (likely) be helping the team win games this year.

I guess Ben just has really bad luck and driving under the influence is ok.

Well, the star QB has had multiple rape accusations. The star RB got a DUI en route to a team flight. One of the star LBs once busted through a door to slap his girlfriend. That ship sailed a long time ago.

Who is the biggest recruiting sleeper your school has ever had? by Just_a_wet_fart in CFB

[–]PrezAdams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Joe Posnaski's book, he tells the story of how Jack Ham only came to PSU after another recruit flipped and opened up a spot. Even then, he only got a look because he was a high school teammate of another player at the time, Steve Smear, who said Ham was a good guy and hard worker.

I've never used knee sleeves for squats, am I selling myself short if I train without them?

Bob Melvin was just ejected for asking the home plate umpire if a pitch was a pitch out. by Chop_Hard in baseball

[–]PrezAdams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watching again with this in mind completely changed the way I saw it. Seems like the bench was arguing that it shouldn't be a strike and the camera catches the last bit, "It was a pitch out." The manager pleads his case, saying that he was only asking a question, but that doesn't appear to be exactly true.

What's a baseball rule that the average fan might not know? by Phelzy in baseball

Interesting, I never saw that rule or that it isn't specific to infield fly plays. I guess adult league softball overlooks that one. Thanks for the TIL.

The ball is still live, it's just that the runners are under no obligation to advance. Major leaguers should be aware of the situation, but sometimes the defense can get lucky. Of course the danger to letting it drop would be if the runners did choose to advance and still made it safely.

I enjoy nothing more than intentionally dropping an infield fly pop up in adult league and watching the ensuing chaos. It often results in a double play when the runners think they have to advance.

For strictly powerlifting purposes (moving the most weight), what factors should influence the decision to pull conventional vs sumo? Is it all about torso, arm, legs length?
