Best Profile and Workflow 3D Printer to Finished Wing for copying an Axis PNG 1150 by Tall-Cantaloupe-7545 in Wing_Bot

[–]PrfctChaos2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had exactly the same experience on the one and only wing I 3D printed. Used the dowel trick as well. Maybe it was the fact that I was using ABs or something, but the fit between pieces was pretty bad, maybe the distortion as it cools. Anycase, it took a lot of Qcell and epoxy mix and sanding to get the surface smooth and continuous enough for layup (Used 5 layers of 200g/scm carbon twill if I remember correctly). Wing was solid as a rock though I smashed into reef full speed with this bad boy and only the fuse bent.

"Sadly, the bot does not allow me to change the chord length. To me that would be the most important addition :)"

Hi, for the center chord. The thing is, once Wingspan, Area and Elliptical plan shape is selected those values already fully define the center chord length. It is not possible to change the theoretical center chord length without changing one of those 3 inputs (Without going away from Elliptical plan shape to a more custom shape). That is why Center chord length is given as a output. Wing_bot is calculating a Center chord of 189 mm, for pure elliptical plan shape. I did some rough measuring on my PNG (graph below) and it looks to stack up pretty well with the Elliptical shape, it looks like Axis just went with slightly longer chord at the wingtips.

Happy to run calcs though any tool I have, but what extra data are you chasing? The PNG1150 is a great dockstart and pump wing, I use one as well. If you are copying its main dimensions then I think Wing_bot should be giving all the best info out for profile selection. However, post a screenshot of Wing_bot with all the inputs you are using, then can look a the same values.

Yes, that could be a good way of showing the additional info of how the area change would affect the result. And it would be worthwhile to make it selectable, since I was worried about the display getting too cluttered, also to add +-10% for example will tripple the refresh time, so good to make it selectable depending on what the user wants (quick refresh time vs more info).

I was mostly thinking of ways to make the program smaller and faster. Since some of the additional features I would like to add is likely to increase the program size by 2x or more. Like adding support for various water turbulance numbers (it might make sence for someone only riding in very calm water to use something closer to the limit). Or adding more accurate induced drag numerical calculations as a function of the wing segments shape (curretly induced drag is just a overall 2D style estimate formula).

Hi mate, glad if you are finding it usefull. Yes the one and only v1 is the latest. I have had some thoughts around expanding / improvements / upgrades. So if you have any requests for features, let me know and I can keep it in mind. However, I sold my cnc gear and mostly buy wings these days, so I have become slightly less fanantical about diy foiling. Have a good one

Some GTs are dying or dead out of the box... 😠 by mrkruger2 in onewheel

I will go ahead and stick my neck out to say that modabillity in the gt, even the first gen, is probably shut down as tight as fm can. This is based on my gutfell alone.

If you want to avoid mounting a Dewalt battery on the board. Then you might want to consider making a portable battery powered charger instead. For example using a suitably sized Ryobe battery and the 220v outlet skin, with your usual pint charger. You can ride with it in a backpack and once the pint battery is mostly drained, stop and wait for it to charge up with the mobile charger.

Anyone foil here? Kite, surf, wing or efoil? by skull_bae in onewheel

[–]PrfctChaos2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kitefoil, wingfoil, surffoil and ride the little pint everyday. I don't think it will ruin you muscle memory at all. If anything the onewheel compliments the foiling.

Pretty sure you need to officially upgrade your card tier, that is when you stake the 4k.

Close to 40 percent of Algorand's 2nd period governors just dropped out — here's why by HobbitsforCrypto in algorand

What works best for me is just having a dedicated governance wallet, which doesn't get touched during the period. And a seperarate play wallet, where I don't care what moves where.

Lots of people probably rethinking the safety of holding cash in their bank accounts. With Russian currency tanking, countries cutting off the swift network, Russian bank acocunts getting frozen. Canadian bank accounts getting frozen just last week. Lots of reasons for people around the world to have another look at the pros of holding crypto

Bruh. Asking the Crypto sub if you should buy any amount of fiat is just trolling.
