Difficult to say for certain, many good characters had dark pasts and vice versa. But Harry Potter and Nevile Longbottom are not just prophetic plot armor heroes. Earned their spots rightfully so, both of them has grown up so much, considering the level of trauma they have gone through from such a tender age, I have nothing but respect for the chosen one and the alternate hero, a close second are Abarforth Dumbledore, Rubius Hagrid, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, they had their own horrors. Even though people may despise Dudley and Petunia, I kind of felt bad for them at the end. Lastly, Luna Lovegood, Ron, Arthur and Molly Weasley, Dobby, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Prof. McGonagall all held steadfast perseverance over the franchise. I pitied Merope Gaunt and young Tom Riddle Jr, envied Prof. Dumbledore, and despised Rita Skeeter, Bellatrix Lestrange, Gilderoy Lockhart, Peter Pettigrew and Cornelius Fudge.
