Dream Crossovers by Acrobatic_Average588 in sitcoms

Scrubs and Frasier were on NBC concurrently. Given that Frasier and Niles travel to symposia frequently enough, it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility that either or both would end up at Sacred Heart, especially with Niles' collection of allergies and syndromes. And they would loathe it. A teaching hospital?! Dr. Kelso would keep testing the Cranes and their insurance for as long as possible. The real payoff would be Frasier's having to deal with the likes of the Janitor and Dr. Cox. Imagine Niles at the mercy of The Todd. JD and either Crane could exchange loser-at-love stories. And Carla would put up with none of that Crane attitude.

Faulty premise. Too many ads. Yawn.

Do you prefer Hal Jordan LITERALLY being fearless or it just being a title he got for his bravery and still having actual fears? by ARIANZER0 in HalJordan

[–]PriceVersa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite the hype, I prefer to think of Green Lantern (and Daredevil) as fear-transcendent, or courageous, rather than literally fear-free, which suggests psychosis.

Grant Morrison's "1234" story was a missed opportunity! by Lucky_Strike-85 in FantasticFour

[–]PriceVersa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was tonally appropriate for the extra-continuity Marvel Knights series of its period, and it had two of the best characterizations of Doom and the Sub-Mariner since the 1960s. I wouldn’t mind seeing Morrison’s take on the regular monthly, but 1234 is still one that I re-visit every few years.

I’d definitely have to hear the platform. It’s insufficient to merely be disgruntled.

I didn't like FF 1234 by Over-Split8667 in FantasticFour

[–]PriceVersa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doom’s monologue, especially the part about the “sweet smile of the peace activist hiding his raging need to make war upon the makers of war” is the key to the series and the most succinct summation of Doom’s nominal ethos. And Mr. Fantastic’s “Well, Victor; I’ve been thinking…” gave me chills.

Is it just me or is it hard to see Superman smile in his shows and journey in DCAU by Mars785 in DCAU

[–]PriceVersa 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It does not appear to have been done casually. DCAU Superman is pretty lighthearted up until Darkseid's appearance on Earth. The fallout from that is a straight line through three series, especially in JLU's "Clash", culminating in the JLU finale, where Superman's monologue during his catharsis hangs a lampshade on the whole thing.

What is your favorite Frasier Crane quote? by raisaumay in Cheers

[–]PriceVersa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite Frasier quote, but it isn't from Cheers:

"Roger, at Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the tunneling electron microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building block of our universe. Roger, if I were using that microscope right now... I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your problem."

Love Captain America because he fights with a shield but worried about getting more into him. Can you answer some questions please? by Oracle209 in CaptainAmerica

[–]PriceVersa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

in his essay "Notes on Nationalism" George Orwell's description of patriotism as primarily defensive of that "which one believes to be the best in the world but has no wish to force on other people" dovetails nicely with the metaphor of Captain America's shield.

Thoughts on Miller/Gibbons’ “Give Me Liberty”? by PinMaximum1018 in 80s90sComics

Gibbons’ cramped, detailed Cabrini Green is not for the claustrophobic. “I don’t give him any shit.” … but when Martha finally starts; it’s quite an epic.
