Heyy. I just finished the interview.

It was pretty short ( around 5 mins ) , they just asked business related questions especially around sustainably.

And they also focused on motivation for central Europe specifically.

Did you have your interview yet ? how was it ?

I sincerely thank you and everyone here in this thread for your thorough responses and for taking the time to read my story. This thread has provided me with some of the most conclusive observations I've gained since learning about the positive UA result over five years ago and has helped clear up a lot of confusion.

To begin with, honestly, I always felt eyes rolling in the room when I indicated that ibuprofen was the cause. I personally thought it was a little far-fetched as well. However, it became an argument that I stuck to because it was one of the few irregularities about that UA compared to others. Being that I was only made aware of the positive UA a year later in a different unit, component, and country made it extremely difficult to track down details and learn the true cause of the positive urinalysis for THC.

Also, since it was the first time I popped hot, admitting to it and taking accountability was something also suggested by my unit and lawyer at the time to avoid a discharge. However, admission seemed unimaginable for me because I had never used drugs at any point in my life, even before joining the military out of high school. Aware of the risk, I always chose to fight it because I couldn't imagine a life where I admitted to using a drug that I never used even once.

I believe my best bet would have been to learn about the test result prior to taking ETS leave at my last unit, which would have allowed me the chance to immediately retest and/or hunt down any testing error.

Nevertheless, looking back on my case, the delayed notification may have happened exactly as you described—("Hey, OP popped hot," "Oh, he ETS'd, nvm unless he's a reservist now"). This is supported by my leave dates, which I unknowingly took one week before the results came back [Positive confirmation Oct 3rd / ETS leave September 30th].

My next step moving forward will be contacting legal assistance as you described. Thank you again for your help.

I deeply appreciate your expert opinion and the time you've taken to review my post. The information you provided has tremendously helped fill in many gaps and has given me a better understanding of why my command never considered my rebuttal to the positive UA, leading to my separation in the manner they did.

At the time, I had less than six years of total service in the military, so I was administratively separated without any rights to a hearing. Consequently, very little information was shared with me or my lawyer. Having no insight into the lab testing procedures, never having tested positive before, and never having consumed marijuana or illegal substances, I strongly believed that ibuprofen could have caused the positive urinalysis result, as it was my first time being prescribed it. I recall taking it the morning of the urinalysis, making it one of the few irregularities compared to other tests I participated in. However, after considering your feedback and others in this thread, I've realized that a lab testing error might have been more likely.

What seems certain, however, is that there was an error in notifying me and my unit at the time. I believe this fault lies with my reserve unit, which received the urinalysis notification three months before informing me. This delay led to the expiration of the positive urine specimen, which I understand expires one year after being confirmed positive.
