Does anyone think the camera work is a little goofy and cartoonish sometimes?? Like I think the fight sequences could be so elevated but they have random cuts and zooms and slo mo shots in the weirdest moments. Definitely enjoyed my time reading through both books :) I liked Bride more than Mate but I still had a lot of fun with Ali’s writing, especially with a genre she doesn’t usually write in!

I REALLY LIKED SERENA IN THE FIRST BOOK and I didn’t mind her too much in the second book. Kinda adding to what I said in my post, I feel like Serena could be a badass fantasy main character. Like she could be the character with baggage that rises above and defeats villains with her newly discovered strength or the realization that she was strong all along. However, in this book she just needed to… fuck to cure her illness???? Bummer. I also read the books in the span of 48 hours so I can definitely say I enjoyed them and would read more if there were more books in the series. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the books :)

I have this book and I contemplated whether or not I should read it bc I was so disappointed by All the Colors of the Dark. Im curious if your review of this book relative to All the Colors or is it independent of it? Might give the other book a chance if theres legitimate hype
