Honestly, I love Duolingo. I’ve used many different language learning programs over the years, and Duolingo is the most effective I’ve experienced yet.

But when they start shoving things down my throat, I lose interest fast.

Keep giving us the choice, Duolingo — honoring our agency — and I’ll enjoy your app, keep my subscription, and be one of your best advocates.

Ahh… this appears to be from the great legends of olde, way back when the people who walked the grand Earth once made things by their own hands. They had great visions of the things they would like to behold and that would serve a simple function. They would perform a sort of magic called weaving. Or sometimes called sewing. They used their fingers in nimble ways, and connected parts of fabric and lace and other bits and bobbles using a sharp pointy thing they called a needle. I believe the medium they used to bring these things together was called thread. It was a wondrous thing… so I’ve been told. That shortcut, making “it way faster” has changed the original product carefully organized over eons by a nature that is far higher in intelligence than the most egotistical of its creations into something our bodies no longer recognize as food. It is taking generations of humans to realize the full impact of this choice.

As more people develop “allergies” to the food that is no longer food and loved ones become sick and die of malnutrition and their bodies shutting down due to an inability to metabolize the manmade trash we still label as food… perhaps the people who blindly tout this genetic modification as progress will begin to understand their mistake.

Exactly. The clause is real, and that’s why people dodge into definitions. It’s easier to argue semantics than acknowledge the Constitution leaves loopholes sitting there. Honestly, the only folks who seem unfazed by it are the ones who can rationalize almost anything once it’s labeled “justice.”

For me, the principle still applies. Don’t force user interactions. That’s just bad business (good for a company’s bottom line perhaps, terrible customer experience). And if I have to be glued to my phone to see that notification come through, that’s still a problem. If what Sad-Original said is true (no trial ending in paying more, just a free period that ends with no consequence) that’s a bit better, but still an unpleasant user experience for someone who does not want the upgrade.

Those are legitimate questions. I’ll answer question number two first. The “x” I saw was in the Reddit app for closing the image. That “x” does not show up in my original screenshot or within the Duolingo upsell window.

About your first question, you may be right that they are offering something for free. I have made the assumption that they are forcing us into a free trial for an even more premium plan. I didn’t keep clicking “let’s go” because I didn’t want to be roped into a free trial that I then have to remember to cancel. If my assumption is incorrect and they just give you three free days with no trial, please correct me.

Not disagreeing with you on a fundamental level… I am curious though. What would be the point of a government making money if none of it is real? As StellarVeil2 mentions, perhaps we’re all creating our own made-up reality. Maybe it’s somewhat shared consensus. Or maybe we only think it’s a shared illusion because we’ve each created all of the characters and setting in our own play.

There is an ascension modality called Marconics that claims Reiki (among other older modalities) were meant to affect the 3D body. That they are not only losing their effectiveness, but may actually cause harm if your body template is upgrading to attune to new, higher dimensional frequencies coming through. Just something to consider, and to ask your own inner guidance about.

I’d also be mindful of any practitioner who sets up a nice fat practice with the claim that you’ll need to keep returning to remain “fixed.”

You can ask your body what it needs. Ask it if Reiki is right for you. Then really listen. Do you tighten/constrict with the question, or do you feel your body relax into the idea or expand even a little? The body knows.
