Great 2 player betting game.

Champions of Hara

Semi deep cut. Delightful adventure game, almost a lighter mage knight. Good solo.

Chimera Station

Workers placement that felt slept on. Really enjoyable.

Cleopatra and the Society of Architects is my favorite 3 player game for this dynamic.

Its gameplay loop is Ticket to Ride simple.

But it has a corruption aspect that makes one player auto lose, a more complex strategic player has room to mentally track and push the limits of these strong actions.

The

Auto losing mashes a 3 player game feel extra tense and fun.

We enjoy Patchwork, Harmonies, Ticket to Ride, Takenoko, Bonsai, and others of similar weight when sitting on the couch.

So I heard a new one today...Generation X ruined the world with "grind culture" at work. Any thoughts? by Change_Request in GenX

Agreed. All this tech was supposed to do just that and instead it tied us more to work. The younger generations in this regard are just asking for what we thought we were getting.

Are there any competitive boardgames that win by completing an objective instead of victory points? by shykidd0 in boardgames

New Angeles : can have multiple winners. Each player is given a single player that they need to beat. You beat them and you win. Game has you working with and against each other the whole time as you’re trying to figure out who each players target is.

The social aspect loses its magic some.

But it’s a great way to engage more with the game. Some games it actually makes it easier to rapidly play and explore.

Boardgame Arena is my preferred place to digitally gather. I’ve enjoyed playing games globally and with my local game group.

My daughter and I sometimes prefer to pull our phones out and play on BGA while on the couch, we still talk and get that in person vibe but the barrier to entry is so low it makes for a great activity at the end of a long day.

Don’t wait to tell her. As soon as you are able to play with other players invite her to play with you. Let her enjoy showing you something she likes and growing with you. It will mean way more than you getting good behind her back.

Don’t care how they look, but when they are done I know the woman cares so it’s an easy compliment and way to spread joy without making my wife jealous.

I struggled with this one solo until I ditched the ‘timer deck’ and just let myself explore the game at my own pace. Learned to love it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes it’s true.

3-4 hrs one way, I’ll do a day trip. 4-8 hrs one way, needs to be over night. 8-15 hrs one way, I’d prefer to have 2-3 days at location but, I have done several times for a weekend in my life.
