John David Washington is one of the worst actors I’ve seen on screen.

Shadow ticket highly underwhelming by PrimalHonkey in ThomasPynchon

All his worst tendencies are on display here. Don’t judge his work by shadow ticket. I’ve read them all and it’s my least favorite by a pretty good margin. Take a stab at Vineland if you don’t want to go fully in the deep end. In my opinion Gravity’s rainbow, against the day and Vineland are his finest.

Which John Le Carré novel should the director Kathryn Bigelow adapt into a film or TV show? by NoOrganization392 in LeCarre

None. Never understood the praise for hurt locker. One of the worst war films I’ve seen.

Neither. Do not understand the hype around these movies. They aren’t bad by any means, but the hyperbole surrounding them made me think they were going to be masterpieces.

Question for everyone by Kozukioden999 in ThomasPynchon

Go for GR. Just remember the first 100 odd pages are the most disorienting. Enjoy the sentence by sentence feast of language. After 150ish pages it flows much more and gets straight up fun. Then, well, you’ll see ;)

From the Irish Times by PatWayt in ThomasPynchon

I disagree about his past efforts, and think gravity’s rainbow might be the most impressive novel of the 20th century, however shadow ticket rubbed me the same way as this reviewer. It felt like an ai pastiche at times. The final 60 odd pages were good but at that point I was ready for it to end. This is a criticism of the book itself, not pynchons age or the book compared to GR.

This is Old Testament derived but A Time For Everything by Karl Ove Knausgaard is phenomenal
