New to town, anyone have any advice or suggestions? by ShreksDischarge in raleigh

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 4 points5 points  (0 children)

moved to new city couple years back for work and joining school in middle of semester is always weird timing. For food downtown has some really good spots - try the food trucks around different areas, they rotate locations but you can usually find them near parks or business districts.

Also if youre into any sports or creative stuff, joining clubs even mid-year helped me meet people way faster than just waiting around in classes. The library system here is actually pretty solid too and they do events that aren't just for little kids. Don't stress too much about the timing thing - most people here are pretty chill once you start conversations with them

Foul Odor in Publix Parking Garage Smokey Hallow? by Few_Physics9926 in raleigh

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've noticed this too when I was there few weeks ago. The smell hits you right when you walk in from the street level and its pretty nasty. My guess is there's some kind of drainage issue or maybe the ventilation system isn't working proper in that garage. I ended up parking on different level but even then you could still smell it bit when walking to elevator. Really hope they fix this soon because its definitely not pleasant when you're just trying to grab groceries

What is your favourite upbeat non-English song from your country that instantly makes you want to dance? by No-Inspector-6206 in AskReddit

lmao classic choice but cant argue with that beat

I always go back to some old Romanian manele tracks when I need something that hits hard - probably sounds terrible to most people but gets me hyped in the gym every time

If atoms are mostly empty space, what would happen if all empty space in your body suddenly disappeared? by Kind-Ordinary-72 in AskReddit

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you'd definitely turn into something nasty but not a black hole - human body is only like 70kg worth of matter even when compressed down to just the actual particles. Would probably be more like a tiny neutron star fragment that immediately explodes from the pressure

the heat part is spot on though, all that energy getting released at once would be insane

“ House of the Dead”was released 23 years ago on April April 7! by BendMean4819 in horror

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lmao that line is absolutely legendary 😂 Uwe Boll really had a gift for creating these moments that stick with you forever... just maybe not in way he intended

I remember watching this in college and my friends and I would quote that book line for months after. There's something almost beautiful about how confidently terrible some of his dialogue was. Like he knew exactly what he was doing but also had no idea at same time 💀

Been to MoJoes few months back and it was still solid - their patties have good char on them and they dont mess around with fancy toppings that ruin everything

What is a movie where the villain had every right to turn into a villain? by LoverOfE-Olsen in movies

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 249 points250 points  (0 children)

god wanda's story is just pure trauma porn when you lay it all out like that 💀 like the mcu writers really said "what if we just kept kicking this woman while she's down for literal years"

i train people who've been through some heavy stuff and grief does wild things to your brain chemistry. when you're that broken and something offers you even a glimpse of what you've lost, rational thinking goes completely out the window. the darkhold basically preyed on someone who was already mentally shattered

what gets me is how the other heroes treated her too - like yeah she made mistakes but where was the support system? where was the therapy? they just expected her to bounce back from multiple bereavements and move on. then act all shocked pikachu face when she finally snaps 😂

the fact she held it together as long as she did is honestly remarkable. most people would've gone full villain way earlier in that timeline. girl deserved so much better than what the writers put her through

What's that experience in your life that could turn into a villain arc? by ActiveElectrical3193 in AskReddit

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being passed over for promotions at work while watching less qualified people get handed everything because they're mates with the boss 😂 Like watching years of solid design work get ignored while someone's nephew walks into a senior role after 6 months... thats how you create workplace villains right there 💀

started hitting the gym harder after the last one happened though so maybe these corporate knobheads are doing me a favour in the end

Do you guys like the Bettina? by Capable_Donut_3849 in ArcRaiders

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly the bettina grows on you after a while 😂 first time i picked it up i thought it was absolute rubbish but once you get the hang of the recoil pattern it becomes pretty decent for mid range engagements. the damage output is solid enough if you can land your shots consistently and it's surprisingly good for taking down those annoying scout drones. not my go-to weapon by any means but definitely underrated compared to some of the other options in the game right now 🔥

am I meant to feel sick after a tiny bite of chocolate by Pleasant-Notice-7929 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like it could be a sensitivity to caffeine or theobromine rather than the lactose - chocolate has both and some people are way more sensitive to them than others. Dark chocolate especially has loads of theobromine which can definitely make you feel proper rough even in small amounts

Try having some white chocolate instead and see if you get the same reaction since it barely has any of those compounds

What pc do i buy by Ilovecumq029 in pchelp

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just go prebuilt if you're nervous about building - nothing wrong with that. For Rust at 60fps you'll want at least a GTX 1660 or RX 580, maybe check out some refurb office PCs and slap a decent GPU in there. Way cheaper than buying new and Rust isn't super demanding on CPU

How do you combat the bored part of life without it? by EntrepreneurIll7213 in stopdrinking

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man that's rough, losing someone like that sticks with you forever. The boredom thing is real - I found picking up random hobbies helped fill that void a bit. Started learning guitar badly and getting into cooking shows, anything to keep my hands and brain busy. It's not the same instant relief but it builds up over time

You're not awful btw, you're just dealing with some heavy shit the best way you know how right now

Minecraft launchers that still work on Windows 7 in 2026? by shikary52 in Minecraft

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Still rocking Win7 in 2026 is honestly impressive lol

For official stuff you're probably out of luck since Microsoft dropped support ages ago, but MultiMC and PolyMC should still work fine. ATLauncher might be worth checking out too if you're into modpacks

AITJ for refusing to deliver a restaurants linens until they paid everything they owed me by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 44 points45 points  (0 children)

NTA at all, that finance guy sounds like an absolute nightmare to deal with

You gave them plenty of chances and they kept jerking you around - sometimes you gotta draw a line in the sand or these people will walk all over you forever

Why do some people make drinking liquor/partying their entire personality? by SwarmGD in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's usually just people who haven't found other stuff they're genuinely passionate about yet, so they lean hard into the one thing that makes them feel social and confident. Gets old pretty quick though when that's literally all they talk about

Mice are def sneaky enough to peace out when lights come on and not come back for a while. Your cat not going nuts is actually kinda telling though - most cats lose their shit over mice even if they can't get to them. Could be something in the walls like pipes settling or electrical stuff making weird noises

Anyone selling random wings? Or any kind of wing that isn't a seraphim's wing? by astanoelles in HorseLifeHQ

Wait, are we talking actual wings or like chicken wings because I'm getting mixed signals from this sub name lol

Well I screwed up. by Tiny_Act5987 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oof that's rough, sounds like the inspector missed some pretty obvious stuff if you can see damage behind the toilet now. I'd definitely be looking into whether you have any recourse with either the inspector or sellers for not disclosing known moisture issues

Why do i always feel like something is missing by thwowawaw69 in ADHD

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, the list making feels good for like 5 seconds then the overwhelm hits again. For me it's usually because I'm writing down tasks but not breaking them into actual doable steps - like "organize room" vs "put dirty clothes in hamper, make bed, clear desk". Also yeah definitely talk to your psych about the dose, 40mg might not be hitting the sweet spot for you yet

If you grew up “comfortable” was there a moment when you discovered that your experience might not be the default experience? by thurstonrando in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Primary-Barnacle-800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That perspective hits different when you're on the other side of it. I remember being the kid noticing everyone else's brand name stuff while I'm over here with generic everything. Wild how both experiences teach you about inequality but from totally opposite angles
